1984 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI

As much as the E30 M3 has become a wild vintage success story, and as much I’m proud of the E28 M5 for being a “buy now!” list-maker, the true David that took down Goliath when it came out and will continue to do so until the end of time is the indomitable Mk1 GTI. It looks right, it goes right, and for all the hype, it’s still available. Today’s has some highs and lows, low-mileage and lots of love being the prior, some cosmetic needs for the latter, but overall it is getting some extremely hot bidding because people know it is a diamond in the rough. With a paint job and some interior work, this would be one of those GTIs that is reaching above $10k. If the bidding stays low enough, the buyer will end up with a triple threat: a fun project, a legendary daily driver, and a great investment opportunity.

Feature Listing: 1992 Volkswagen Corrado SLC with 52k miles

Sometimes lightning does strike twice. The low mileage Corrado SLC that we featured last month was one of those cars you just don’t come across very often. Or was it? Here comes another mint condition Corrado SLC for sale in California from our reader Christian. He bought the car from its original owner, it has covered just over 52,000 miles and it’s red. Do sport coupes from the 1990s get any better than this?

1990 Volkswagen Corrado G60

Last month, Carter featured an impossibly clean Corrado SLC with very low mileage. A lot of these sport coupes were snapped up by young enthusiasts a few years on and sadly were modified beyond recognition. I remember frequenting Volkswagen shows during my college years and seeing many of these cars chopped up, driven hard and laid up wet. Now two decades since the last Corrados were sold new in the US, a good one is hard to come by. This silver, one-owner Corrado G60 for sale in Connecticut is fairly original with little modification but has high mileage. The G60 isn’t the more desirable powerplant in the model lineup, but given the condition, this car is sure to catch its fair share of attention.

1982 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia

$_57 (6)

We’ve had a great variety of Vanagons on GCFSB recently, from some non-Westy deals to some of the 20 year old Westfalias that cost more than brand-new VWs. Today’s Kermitized Westy provides a great happy medium, combining the utility and campability of the pop-top legend with an extraordinarily good price. Even at the Buy-It-Now price, it’s a steal compared to most Vanagons that look like this. The weak, 1982-only naturally-aspirated diesel may be partially to blame for the low price, but with this low of miles I’m thinking this original owner just does not know what other Westies are going for. If you can’t handle the well-earned “Slow Moving Vehicle” sticker, you could do any number of engine swaps and quickly have a van worth 3 times what it’s selling for now.
