1992 Mercedes-Benz 300SL-24 Euro

r129-1

A few weeks ago Craig featured a 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300SL that caught our eye. Everything he said about the R129 I agree with. It is a quintessential Mercedes design which remains attractive today; sporty and taut yet elegant and handsome. Today we feature a R129 300SL that’s every bit as handsome — along with some other goodies.

The big piece here is that this is a European spec car. This car was originally sold in Germany then federalized when it moved to the US with a converted instrument cluster and US spec headlights. If this was just a regular 300SL that wasn’t stuffed full of forbidden fruit it would be a really good buy. But it’s all the little details that separates this car from all the other R129s out there. Not to mention that it’s so clean you could pick a random part of the car and eat your dinner off of it without any issues. The paint, interior, wheels and engine compartment are all nearly spotless. Just to be clear on the 300SL-24, all US spec 300SL cars came with the 24 valve DOHC M104 and were badged as the regular 300SL. In Europe you had the choice between the SOHC M103 12 valve and M104 24 that was badged 300SL-24.

The seller, Mike, is a highly respected Mercedes enthusiast who has owned more Benz than number of years I’ve been alive. You know exactly what you are buying and who you are buying from. At $8,800, you don’t really don’t have to think about it at that price.
