Looking at this Porsche 930 I immediately feel like Homer Simpson, “Mmmmmm, double chocolate.” Less drooling though. Technically the interior color isn’t considered to be chocolate, but one look pretty much confirms that’s just a matter of semantics. It definitely matches the Bitter Chocolate exterior. Like with a few other 911s I’ve featured recently this one showcases a period-correct appearance that is very difficult to found outside of the ’70s. While not everyone may be enamored of the exterior color – I happen to think the interior is fantastic and will have broader appeal – for collectors a period-correct example should garner a little more notice, and given the asking price this one is aimed directly at collectors.

The seller’s initial exuberance about the 930 market would have been more relevant a year ago when we were seeing values shoot up quite significantly for these air-cooled Turbos. But now? The market isn’t so crazy and for many examples values have even retreated some. For the very best, completely original examples, values remain quite high, but after that there’s some uncertainty. To be clear, though, none of these models have suddenly become inexpensive. Here I think we’re going to need a good bit more knowledge of its history and documentation. It looks great and the colors sound like they are the original combination. But is this the original paint? Is the interior original? I suspect it isn’t, since it looks like it has been redone. It looks good, but a fully original interior would go a long way toward meeting this type of price. As with most 930s those details will dictate the price, but this remains a very nice looking example and many of these 3.0 liters Turbos have been showing the best values.
