1979 Porsche 930

This is a strikingly pretty Porsche 930. Wait…pretty isn’t the word I’m looking for. Let’s just say it’s pretty damn striking and a great looking 930. Guards Red makes for a familiar exterior color on Porsches from the ’80s. It is a less prevalent color on Porsches from the ’70s, but still one we see and recognize almost immediately. Where this 1979 Porsche 930’s Guards Red paint raises the bar is that it has Turbo graphics. Ok, graphics aren’t for everyone and maybe they can be a little bit boy racer, but the Turbo graphics on early 930s are a different animal. They’re subtle. In some cases almost so subtle that you miss that they’re even there. They are a fantastic complement to the black trim accents of the 930 in general. Yes you get whooshing turbo script down the rear quarter, but it’s a car from the ’70s and it just feels right. This is the first time I’ve seen the graphics on a Guards Red 930. I’m sold!

Add that this great looking Turbo only has 29,931 miles on it and we’ve got ourselves a serious commodity. As with quite a few Porsches like this that we come across the elephant in the room is documentation. Other than the CoA we aren’t told much is available. We have a picture that appears to show a small stack of papers, but nothing more. That means we don’t know if the paint and interior are original. We don’t know if the graphics came with the car. We don’t have verification of the mileage. Lastly, the ride height looks high. That could be the photos or maybe the ground isn’t level or maybe my eyes deceive me, but it looks high.

That’s not a small list of details and those details will be what determines the price. We’ve seen a fully original low-mileage ’79 930 exceed $200K. Bidding here sits at only $75,100. Where bidding should end will depend upon those details. This is a great looking Turbo and one that I’m sure many would be interested in having. We just need to know precisely what we’re getting.
