I have vivid memories as a child of one of Mercedes-Benz’s most iconic models over the last 40 years: the W123. The diesel variants particular stand out; their clatter as they ramble down the road was distinctive. The deliberate thunk as you would shut the doors and the seemingly magical way they would soak up the imperfections in the tarmac, even it it was a taxi with high mileage that was navigating the cobblestone streets of some old European city. These cars were and still are marvels. Upon a visit to the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart nine years ago, I was in awe of the like new examples the museum had in their collection, dreaming of being able to purchase a new W123 once again. Well, this 1981 300D for sale in Pennsylvania is about as close as you can get to showroom fresh. While this one predates the turbocharged 300D that came later, it still has a lot of appeal.

You are looking at an extremely nice Mercedes 300D which looks garaged, taken good care of, and regularly serviced!!! 3.0L DIESEL engine is mechanically sound, has lots of power and performs as you would expect it from MERCEDES. Engine compartment is clean and free of any leaks. Automatic transmission shifts smooth, no slips, no skips.
The Blue exterior is in GREAT condition for the year and miles of the vehicle. The paint is shiny, glossy, and shows minimum of wear for the year and miles. Please check the pictures. The interior of the vehicle is in great condition. Seats show almost no wear at all for the year and miles. Interior looks and smells clean.
Electrical options are in working order, including but not limited to: cruise control, power windows, power antenna, ICE COLD A/C.
Tires were rotated, balanced, and still have plenty of tread life left! I test-drove the vehicle and found to be in GREAT CONDITION for its year and miles. WE TAKE OFFERS, AND TRADE-INS (please make sure to call us for your trade-in approval.)

I love the Midnight Blue over Parchment color combination here. It is a really classic combination that doesn’t date this car. We saw an early 1977 300D for sale in early 2014 with over 100k miles sell for $7,675. The asking price here is very steep. I could maybe see it if we were dealing with one of the late production 300D turbodiesels, but given this is a 1981 model, we’re probably a little on the high side. Still, I could see a car like this fetching around the $15,000 mark if the right buyer came along.

Price aside, this thing is gorgeous.
I love how they try to get more money for the car by having the interior look suspiciously like a Porsche 911! ;}
Beautiful car. Seems expensive though.
Just fYI, there is an interior photo of a yellow 911 in the middle of this post.
