The 964 is looking like the hot car on the 911 market at the moment, serving as a fitting reversal of the overall struggle the model suffered under during its production run. Porsche offered a huge variety of colors for the 964 – granted, Porsche always offered a wide variety of colors, though on the surface it has always felt like they expanded even more for the 964 – but we don’t come across many of those wild colors very often on the standard models. For instance, the Lime Yellow Carrera RS Paul featured over the weekend is one of the few yellow 964s I can recall seeing and I cannot recall any of those being a standard Carrera. That is the nature with rare colors, of course. But here we have one: a Coral Red 1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Targa, located in Montreal, with Beige leather interior and 79,900 miles on it.

The pictures here aren’t the best when it comes to getting a wide view of this 911’s condition, though we do get a good number of closer up shots. Overall, it looks very good and Coral Red itself provides an interesting departure from some of the brighter reds. I’d be very curious to see it under different lighting to see how it shifts in sun and shade as in many ways I find those shifts to be the best aspects of many of these lesser seen colors. The interior also looks in good condition, but we aren’t offered enough to really make a good judgement of it. That it comes with a good deal of recent documentation is of further benefit. With an asking price of $49,999 this seems overall to be fairly reasonable value if we consider that the last 964 Targa I featured, which had similar mileage, sold for $64,100. That Targa came from the final year of 964 production so we can expect a premium over this ’91 model, but there’s still a decent size gulf separating these two prices. That this 911 resides in Canada might deter some buyers, but I don’t think this one will be around too much longer.
Only coral red I’ve ever seen and I like it. Very unusual.
There is currently a 1974 911 in the Pelican classifieds in “Salmon.” I like both colors a great deal!
