1983 Porsche 911SC

It’s been a week of high-priced and rare 911s for me, so we’ll end on the other side of the spectrum seeking out driver-quality value. This Wine Red Metallic 1983 Porsche 911SC with Grey Beige leather interior and 108,927 miles sits right where we might first look when seeking a classic 911 at reasonable cost. The 911SC has long been a favorite of ours here at GCFSB for its combination of value, aesthetics, and performance and while they aren’t quite the excellent value they once were, they also haven’t seen the dramatic rise to equal that of the 3.2 Carrera. Yet, in many respects these models offer a driving experience similar to their slightly more mature counterparts and on the current market almost always strike a better value. Like any car of this age and six-figure mileage a PPI is a must, but these are known for their stout engines so buyers should not be discouraged by mileage north of 100K.

This is just a gorgeous 911SC that presents quite well both inside and out. The Grey leather probably would not be my first choice to go with this exterior, but I do appreciate the lighter interior color and this one certainly is unique. This car lacks a couple of the original items we might desire, but for a buyer who is not interested in the long-term collector value of the car these are things we can live with. As a non-original wheel goes, we could certainly do worse and here it still fits the profile, even if they are a little over-sized. All-in-all, we have a very good looking 911 with reasonable mileage and bidding presently sits fairly low at $15,600. That will surely rise prior to auction’s end, but if this 911SC could be had for around $20K then that would be a pretty good value and certainly should provide its new owner with many more miles of driving pleasure.

This is a very nice color combination. Looks like it is arena red. Love the gray/silver interior with this paint color. Getting proper Fuch wheels will be a bit expensive to correct the original look (if that is your thing). Otherwise a very nice 911.

Super nice and unique color combo. Mine is White on Burgundy, a bit more common – this is kind of reverse. Good looking car, will be interesting to see where this ends up selling at. Fuchs would be better looking , but the 17″ newer factory wheels are a good upgrade for driving purposes and tire selection. One could buy some aftermarket Fuchs for the “correct” look for shows, etc. Use these for normal driving. Used original Fuchs can be bought much cheaper if you buy one or 2 wheels at a time. The 6″ are easy to find, 7″ not so bad. 8’s and 9’s are tougher to find at a good price. Someone will get a nice car to enjoy for years to come!

I think they called it ruby red metallic on the 83s. Very nice color combo.

Any prospective buyer should do themselves a favor and google the selling dealer.

Looks nice enough compared to most of the SC’s coming out of the woodwork these days, but those wheels are just wrong for a G-series car. It deserves OEM Fuchs. If it were a 964, sure- but those wheels are a distraction to my eyes.

I’ve never seen a 911 on eBay that was offered by Victory meet reserve. It’s probably set at something ridiculous like $35K for this example.

    As always, buyer beware…

Thanks guys for the comments. I purchased this car in November early. I went to the Houston showroom met with Mr. Neal and well you know. I love the color combo. My first Porsche. I agree
with all original fuchs will be reappearing on this car. I am seeking a lower price for the four. They are a little pricey.
