1983 Porsche 911SC

After last weeks green Porsche 911 that wasn’t actually green, I wanted to feature a 911 that left the fact in that shade. This 1983 911SC is finished in Moss Green Metallic over a brown interior, and I might love this one just as much. Moss Green is a much darker shade of the color and at night you’d probably mistake it for black. However, when you put it in light and really take a close look at it, you’ll see it has a ton of metallic finish in it. Even better for this example, just 39,000 miles.

Sunroof delete – Factory air condition – Original Chocolate leather seats, carpet and more

A REAL time capsule! see the additional pictures below

This very rare Sunroof delete, last year SC was connoisseur owned and comes with an impressive low mile history, that is evidenced by the meticulously stamped service booklet, Clean Carfax report and the fact that the original, impossible to find, Pirelli P7s are still on its factory Fuchs wheels.

Further tale to the low mileage is the overall condition of the rust-free body, zinc plating on the engine bay hardware and trunk accessories. The Chocolate brown interior is also a sight not often seen in preserved condition G-Body 911 Porsche cars like this one.

Everything works and it is all original with exception of the radio. The tool set is present with the car, as well as the collapsible spare wheel and its compressor. The owner’s manual pouch includes the user manual, service and warranty booklet and radio paperwork. Two keys are supplied with this car as well.

The matching 3.0 liter flat six, air cooled 930/18 engine propels the car forward through its matching 915 transmission that shifts smoothly and precisely through the five gears free of grinding.

In a world where the possibilities are endless with a G body, there is something great about a factory car in a great color combo. This one certainly seems to check all the boxes, and if you are a fan of sunroof deletes, you are in luck. It isn’t the cleanest example ever, but I’d say this is certainly a car you can be proud of.

The price of $59,000 is certainly in the ballpark of what other similar SCs have sold for with this mileage. I probably would do a PPI on this one as the price is certainly a premium, but if everything checks out I wouldn’t call this one a bad deal at all.

So they’ve been driving around on 30+ year-old tires?!?

With 39k miles, there really hasn’t been much driving going on. Cool to see those old Pirelli’s. I saved the 1990’s set of Michelins that came with my 500se on a second set of wheels. Cool to see a sunroof delete car! That must save a fair bit of weight on one of these. And that brown interior is just perfect! Thanks for posting this.

It’s not the mileage, it’s the age. Tires begin to dry rot after about 6-10 years, if not earlier, depending on environmental conditions. It’s criminally dangerous to sell a car with 35+ year-old tires on them and you’d have to be a complete and utter moron to drive a car that has 35+ year-old tires on them.
