1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet

I am a beach person that comes from a beach family. We don’t live there but no year feels complete if I’ve been away from the water for too long. When growing up my favorite vacation each year was when we went to the beach and while as an adult I enjoy a little more variety it is still the yearly family beach trip that I look forward to the most. Thus, almost anything that delivers that sort of feeling, that sense of sunshine, sand, and ocean breezes, will grab and hold my attention. When that something is a car then each of these sensations is ratcheted up as I begin to think about those coastal drives. That is exactly the sort of sense I get from the car here. Some of that is due to the location in which it currently resides, but mostly it’s a combination of the color on a Cabriolet. It feels like the coast and a would surely make for a fantastic coast-road cruiser. Here we have a Lagoon Green Metallic 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, located in California, with 46,998 miles on it.

This is a really beautiful color that works fantastically on a Cabriolet. It’s bright and alluring and conveys a feeling of openness that goes really well with any top-down drive. That color, Lagoon Green Metallic, was only available from Porsche for two years (1987-1988) so we certainly are not likely to come across many more of them. On an ’87 Carrera that should make it quite popular with collectors and allow it to sustain its value well over the long term. Combine that with the low miles, originality, and documentation of this Carrera and we should see this fetch a pretty strong price. In that regard, bidding currently sits at $42,011 with the reserve unmet. There are still quite a few days left on this auction so there’s plenty of time for the price to rise and it wouldn’t shock me if someone swooped in and made an offer that results in a sale prior to auction’s end.

This is very similar in color to my 1989 Audi 80q. There is a shimmery effect.

Convertibles and black seats just don’t go together. Sun, people…..sun.

A few minor mods (third brake light bar and it’s been lowered) but this car is sweeeeeet and should bring near it’s BIN price.

It’s missing the option code sticker on the luggage compartment hood…could have been lost or could have been painted.

Good catch Jeff on the sticker. Seems odd for a low mileage car. The one I had briefly had it in place and it had had over 4 owners and 94,000 miles. I’m with Justin – No way I would buy a vert with a black interior. But overall the car presents well.

Those shots of the car on the lift are what would have me sold.

Haven’t seen a g50 cab do that kind of number with those miles yet. Only seen a very small number of coupes trade at that number and the coupes go for more.

Front lip spoiler is not from the factory either. They came with both or none from the factory.

Nice looking car except for the brake light.
