This is somewhat strange. While Porsche always has offered a wide variety of colors, including paint-to-sample options, it’s rare that we come across a 911 where I can’t really tell what color it is. The car here isn’t described as paint-to-sample, though perhaps that’s the fault of the seller, but rather it is described simply as Brown. It does look somewhat Brown, but I can’t say I’ve seen a 911 in this shade, and Brown itself was much more popular in the ’70s than the ’80s. Either way, combined with the lovely interior color this 1987 3.2 Carrera definitely is eye-catching and not an everyday color. The G50-equipped Carreras have shown rapid appreciation of late especially when in excellent condition, as this one appears to be.

It appears the Autocheck shows a ‘minor issue’ with the mileage and more information will be needed on that before any prospective buyer goes too far with this otherwise very interesting example of the 3.2 Carrera. The lack of description from the seller isn’t helpful and, given the Autocheck report, that in and of itself certainly is a red flag. As nothing obviously stands out in what we can see here, this may be nothing of concern, but these issues surely will hamper the ability of this car to reach its reserve or sell for this high of a BIN price. Those problems aside, the condition of the paint and interior looks excellent so perhaps there simply is a hiccup in the ownership history that is showing up as an odometer issue. The condition certainly doesn’t suggest this is actually a higher mileage vehicle though if it has been restored that could certainly account for these discrepancies. So more information is needed, but if everything checks out then this could make for a very nice 911.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen that color – good chance of paint to sample. An ode to the 70’s interesting colours, most likely the person who ordered it had a previous P-car in an interesting color. Anyone out there know what it could be? Nice looking car, interior looks brand spanking new!
I’m curious what color it is too. The paint code is probably still under the carpet in the front bonnet area. Probably some variation of gold or platinum metallic.
I think my friend Allen had a targa this color back in the late 1980s. Rose Quartz Metallic comes to mind, but I may have that wrong.
The color is known as copper brown metallic as I know it. We had a 74 in that rare shade back in the mid late 70’s. If it is copper brown its one of my favorite shades on a short hood.
It is so refreshing to see an early Porsche which is not red, white or silver with grey interior.
This is one of the most beautiful color combos I have ever seen on an early Porsche. It could be paint to sample, it’s definitely not rose quartz.
Unfortunately the carfax shows a potential odometer rollback.
Buyer beware. If that’s the case it would only add about 22k miles to the odo.
The color is “cassis” or “cassisrot”. I believe 1987 only color.
Indeed, it looks like Cassis red to me. It’s appearance is very dependent on lighting conditions.

You all may be right. When I first came across it Cassis Red was my first thought, but the pictures look slightly more brown than how I’m familiar with Cassis Red looking. With that said, none of the pictures are in the sun and I think that’d really help sort things out. Cassis Red is a brilliant color and with this interior this car would be quite the standout!
The seller sent me a photo that shows the paint code L40B which is nougat brown for 1987.
