1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Silver Anniversary Edition

This will be a bit of a quick hitter since we just featured a Silver Anniversary Carrera earlier this week. This time we have the other color option that was available on these cars, Silver Metallic. Unlike the previous example, this car comes with the original equipment necessary to return the car to original condition, which is always a nice selling point for cars such as these that are ultimately destined to become collector cars. With nearly 122K miles on the clock this example has certainly lead a fruitful life, but with a long maintenance history included prospective buyers should get a good sense of the current state of the car.

Here is your chance to own a rare 911 – only 300 Silver Anniversary Special Edition coupes were made and of that 240 were in beautiful Silver Metallic. The interior is also a special silk grey interior with black piping.

This car currently has 121k miles and is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition.

These Anniversary cars are one of my all time favorite 911’s… What made the special editions stand out from the crowd include options such as the stitched leather center console with outside temperature gauge, painted center wheels, the silk grey supple leather, short shift kit and front and rear spoilers.

Other features of this car include a factory CD player and dual 4 way power seats. The only modifications are a 930S steering wheel and Alpine CD player and speakers, though the original steering wheel and CD headunit also come with the car.

Originally a SF Bay area car, the car has had three owners, the most recent owner brought it to NJ and has had the car for over 15 years.

We have substantial maintenance history on this car, going all the way back to 13k miles. We have a very well organized binder of all the receipts, just to help illustrate the diligence of maintenance this car has seen by it’s owners. A full 120k service (valve adjustment, oil change, dist cap/rotor, spark plugs, fuel and air filters, belt etc) was completed in December 2013. Four new tires were installed less than 5k miles ago. The front A/C condenser was just replaced days ago along with a refrigerant recharge, so the air conditioning blows very cold. This car drives as a G50 Carrera should and is ready to go.

The car runs exceptionally well and is in excellent cosmetic condition, having less than expected level of stone chips/minor scratches and seat wear for a 911 of this mileage. The windshield has a few chips that were there when the current owner bought the car.

It has a complete tool kit, compressor and comes with a Porsche OEM car cover.

PPI’s welcome.

G50 coupes are in high demand, nevermind that this car is an 89 Anniversary Edition. Don’t miss out!

With an asking price $15K lower than our previous Silver Anniversary edition, but nearly double the mileage, this 911 also is priced on the high end though at least we’re getting into more reasonable territory. With that said, a standard 3.2 Carrera in this condition would probably sell in the neighborhood of $35K so the premium here is still pretty steep.

This is “mint condition” money for a non-mint car. No matter what the seller says, this car will probably need $5k to make it “nicer”. Its too pricey to drive as a daily, yet not nice enough for a garage queen in the current condition / mileage. $35k is more reasonable. The Anniversary Edition for these doesn’t mean a whole lot. Even though there were only a “few” in number, the difference from the standard Carrera is purely cosmetic.
