1990 Audi Coupe Quattro

With only around 1,700 imported over 30 years ago, your odds running across an Audi Coupe Quattro any day of the week are…well, exceedingly low. With a sweet 7A 20V inline-5 under the hood, robust build quality, just enough creature comforts, and Audi’s legendary quattro all-wheel-drive system underneath you, there’s a lot to like if you do find one. I took a look at a nice example back in December:

It was not for the faint of heart, with bidding in the mid-teens. Today’s example is a bit more affordable, if you’re looking for one of these:

Seller’s Notes
Oil leak on the bottom of trans. In the month it was in the air, no drips were found. Has minor exhaust leaks. Secondary radiator steams with a slight leak but no substantial coolant loss, along with absolutely no overheating. The car could use an alignment. Wheels are oxidized and the tires are dated. The car seems it has been parked for sometime. Which explains the dash fading and the rear parcel fade. Previous owner stated the catalytic converter was stolen and when he had a tow, the company cut the drive shaft. They left it a little to long and sliced through the body under the seat. Was professionally repaired, and all industry standard products used and blended in to last a lifetime. Driveshaft replaced and Catalytic converter. Any other questions feel free to message Us!

Time Capsule… that’s the perfect phrase to describe this 1990 Audi Coupe Quattro. The preservation of this car is due to its 1 owner history with service records. Car fax proven. She has 115,387 actual miles documented. This coupe is Completly OEM and keeping a lot of the rare bits that coupe Quattros are always missing. Those are the Audi logo Battery tray, OEM drip/skid plate, and even the accessory foam in the trunk and cubby. A couple highlights, starting with the OEM headliner, still in great shape the speaker trays in the rear are in great condition, these are always broken. Along with the complete spare tire set, with OEM Audi secure handle with the tools, jack, and carpet cover.

After having 40+ Pre-95 Audi’s go through our hands, this is the most well preserved Classic Audi we have come across. Functions like the sunroof, security system, windows, factory radio, HVAC System(besides AC), adjustable mirrors all work flawlessly. Audi was ahead of the game with its high quality interior and that beautiful black leather, which inhances that classic luxury feeling.

Driving it is the experience why you buy a Classic Audi. The clutch working together with the transmission, while shifting into each gear flawlessly. To the Smooth natural feel of a Luxury Coupe from the 90’s. Brakes that stop the vehicle with no fear. It’s smooth steering, even with a slight alignment incorrection. First time driving the car, blew me away. The Engine doesn’t skip one beat, and runs very smooth and balanced. Which in fact, this 7A Engine is debatly one of the most reliable Audi production engines, reaching over 400k miles if properly maintained. All the Factory Zinc coating on all the engine accessories are still there. Windshield is still in great shape as well.

Although this still is a 32 year old car and have noticed the Rpm signal to the cluster is not functioning, along with the odometer, diff lock function, Ac system, although every AC component is there ready for a recharge. Has accumulated a minor amount of rust on the suspension components and subframes, but the actual Uni-body is 99% un touched by rust. Audi protected their German metal with a double galvanizing and undercoating.

Certainly this car deserves to be in a collection or even a first time Classic Car owner.

Truth told, this one is not as nice as the last. Yet the Tornado Red paintwork and black leather upholstery still look pretty good, and it is far from used up. Clearly there are some points that need to be addressed, but the under $10,000 asking price accounts for that to some degree. A decade ago this likely would have been a $5,000 car or maybe a bit less, but today’s market – even on old Audis – has been pretty crazy. After all, who would have thought a 4000CS quattro would be selling close to its original sticker price today?
