It’s no secret that classic Mercedes-Benzes can be some of the most durable used car buys out there. But how about their higher performance offerings? Surely the minute you start tinkering around you’ll compromise reliability, right? Well, tell that to this 1992 500E closing in on 200,000 miles. This is a two-owner vehicle and with a binder full of records, it should go a long way towards addressing inquiries.

1992 Mercedes 500E in beautiful overall condition. Extremely well maintained 2 owner car. We purchased it from the original owner approximately 3 years ago. He leased it new and bought out the lease, drove it to California and had it out there for a period of time while he was living there and then brought it back to the east coast. There has been a lot of scheduled and routine maintenance done over its life to keep it performing as it should. All maintenance records are included with the car.
The interior and exterior are in excellent condition, no rust scratches, dents, tears, rips, etc. Headliner, leather, mats, and dashboard are perfect. Garaged over its whole lifetime and it shows. All synthetic fluids in the car, either Amsoil or Mobil 1 its whole life. The rear suspension hydraulics were also replaced by the previous owner. The original which have Dunlop Direzza Tires on them, and are in very good shape. A/C and heat work perfectly. Also had full handmade stainless exhaust fabricated from the Cat back by Borla East in NJ, Amazing quality craftsmanship all hand fabricated. I have all the records in a binder, and all the typical weak points of this model have been addressed. The wiring harness has been replaced as was the timing chains, guides, the transmission refurbished, front and rear shocks with original, radiator, rear hydraulic balls for suspension, transmission and motor mounts, shifter bushings, valve cover gaskets, etc, etc.
If you have any questions or would like to arrange to see the car in person please email me or call me at 914-906-9233, Thanks, Brett. Please do not bid if you have no intensions of following thorough with the deal I have no time for games.
We feature a lot of low mileage beauties here on GCFSB, but it’s nice to stumble across a well worn example of one of our favorites. The one thing that caught my attention was the records binder. For every car that I’ve owned, I’ve kept a similar one to track all maintenance and expenses. It’s a really simple routine that makes your car much more attractive come resale time. Cosmetically, this car looks good and with the mechanical items addressed, it should allay some fears. I like this car for the simple fact that someone could buy it for much less than your typical garage queen and not be afraid to have their fun with it. In terms of value, somewhere between $8,500 and $12,000 would probably get the job done here.

Car could be okay but it’s in upstate NY… that means rust. Looks like the last time it visited a Mercedes dealer was 10 years ago. Seller does mention things like the timing chain and wiring harness, which is good.
I’d have to say how the car looks by seeing it in person… maybe closing to the low estimate given here.
I still don’t like it being a NY car.
