The Mercedes-Benz 500E is one of those cars that was fairly affordable for a long time, but dwindling supply and greater awareness has raised values considerably. I knew it was a matter of time before this legend started to increase in value. We often see these four-door hot rods with Porsche DNA in black or silver, but this metallic blue example for sale in Florida bucks that trend. This car is closing in on 150,000 miles but has had the same owner for the last 18 years.

We’ve seen a lot of 500Es come up on the market with anywhere between 100,000 and 200,000 miles on the clock. With sturdy W124 architecture underneath, these super saloons can go for quite some time if taken care of properly. Rarely can you find a performance classic like this that with such durability. The price for higher mileage 500Es in good condition is creeping up along with the rest of the lot, with driver quality cars spanning the $15,000 to low $20,000 territory. That places this one right in that meaty part of the curve.

Although I have a very low mile example in the garage, I can’t stop looking at them online.
Would not trade it for a new AMG, at all.
Gorgeous in and out! Finally some pleasant colors.
… this color reminds me of the 1of1 500E Renntech I almost bought a couple of years ago from Hatch & Sons… very nice.
Acquaintance tried to buy this one. No records other than a stamped book. Dealer said “Take it or leave it”. Attitude shot the deal to hell. I wouldn’t touch one of these without some hard records. A stamped book doesn’t cut it.
BTW: He walked and bought another one loaded with paperwork elsewhere.
