For reasons I’m not sure I understand myself, I was slow to accept the 964 and failed to give it its due worth and appreciation. That at least holds true for the Carrera as I’ve always found the 964 Turbo to be fantastic. It really wasn’t until recent years after seeing a few of them on the road that my appreciation for them has gained, presumably since I enjoy the design much more than any of the current models. And like with many cars, though not all, I find them much more attractive in the flesh rather than in pictures. Anyway, here we have a higher mileage example: a Grand Prix White 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Coupe, located in Delaware, with 145,000 miles on it. I see a Grand Prix White 964 in my neighborhood fairly frequently and it looks fantastic! So while I typically do not care for these cars in white, I must defer to those experiences rather than what here looks somewhat bland.

For a car with this sort of mileage, the condition appears quite good and judging by the comments about service it seems to have been shown good care in recent years. We should then hope that this 964 will have plenty of life prior to any major expenditures making themselves necessary. The downside to these service comments is that the seller may be looking to recoup much of that cost, which could lead to a higher reserve than we might generally expect. Whether that will be the case remains to be seen, but bidding already sits at $33,600 and the reserve remains unmet. For a fairly standard 964 approaching 150K miles that’s pretty strong money, but like with every other air-cooled 911 the market pushes ever upward.

This might be random and out of left field, but I think the presence, and width, of the black trim around the windows somehow adds to the handsomeness and substance of this car, especially in white. Kind of like how the right amount of eyeliner can make a model’s eyes and face look more dramatic when done right. It’s like a subtle emphasis on an already eye-catching shape.
The front bumper and wheels look so early 1990s great too.
@Ry: there is definitely something to the trim, and I find it makes the biggest difference on white cars. On some cars white just looks boring, while on others it looks fantastic, but it rarely seems to be the paint color itself. It’s those little accents that draw the eye in a particular way.
I’m a big fan of 964’s BUT this is nuts!….145k on the odo and the reserve unmet at 33k???
it’s not even a C4….if it was a wide body C4..okay I get it….
what’s the phrase: “high tide rises all boats”…something to that effect….
I guess there are fewer manual examples around….if it was a TIP I’d pass-out
Am I the only one that’s surprised that an all caps, all italics ad has ONLY seven exclamation points? Also the smart money would have bet on that typist having an AOL.com email address, he got me – and he got me good.
