1995 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet

If the car we see here is any indication, then we appear to have reached a point where short-hood naturally-aspirated air-cooled 911s are all trading for similar values. Among driver-quality cars there certainly is a standard rise in value as we move from the 911SC to the 993 but the gap between these two models has closed considerably. This is great news for some buyers because it enables a more expansive search among models, but the downside is that a “cheap” 911 no longer appears to exist. Overall, it’s surely a testament to the desirability of the air-cooled cars more generally. Here we have a Grand Prix White 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, located around Houston, with 71,500 miles on it and an asking price of $37,500. The 993 was first shown in 1993 and carried over a refined version of the 964’s 3.6 liter flat-six mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. As the last of the air-cooled 911s the model always has been extremely popular and looks to forever remain the most powerful and refined air-cooled option Porsche will release.

You are looking at the last of the air-cooled Porsche 911’s – The model 993 which started in this year – 1995. It is a 6-speed manual transmission cabriolet with only 71,500 miles on it. For those of you not so good at math – that’s somewhere between 3 to 4k miles per year. Unbelievably low! It drives like a dream and is such a joy to own. It is in Grand Prix White with gray interior, excellent mechanical condition with all service performed at the local Porsche dealership. The tires are essentially brand new (read less than 500 miles on them) and are the high performance Z rated Michelin Pilot Sport PS2’s. The air-conditioning blows extremely cold (I know – everyone says this but I live in the south in Houston, Texas where the summers are BRUTAL! Believe me when I say that you will always be nicely chilled in this vehicle when it is 100 degrees outside with 90% humidity). I have owned the vehicle almost 5 years and I really hate to let it go but to be honest, I just don’t have the time to drive it anymore. I’ve put about 2k miles on it since I’ve owned it. Yes, it has been driven periodically and correctly with the requisite over 3,000 rpm shift changes but for short trips or some highway miles (this is Houston after all). It has always been garaged and babied (yes – it might have been rained on a time or two – lol). There is no rust and the interior as you can probably see from the pictures is beautiful (as well as the exterior). Oh and I’m not a smoker – that stuff will never get near my cars…

What else can I tell you? I’m hoping to find another enthusiast who can really appreciate this vehicle. They have been gaining in popularity and value over the last few years. This car fulfilled a lifelong dream for me and I’m hoping it will for someone else soon. I personally have driven the water-cooled 911’s and I believe there is no comparison. There is just something about the hum of the air-cooled flat 6 that runs chills up your spine.

I’ve had very little mechanical problems with this vehicle – just a convertible top fuse go out on me and I just had the Odometer gears replaced (very common issue with the 911’s I’m told). Other than that – it’s been almost trouble free.

Please feel free to ask me any questions or request additional pictures and I’d be happy to send them to you. Also, I own this vehicle free and clear and I’m not in dire financial straits. If you are looking for a phenomenal vehicle to own and drive that raise the hairs on your neck – then feel free to ask whatever questions you need to satisfy your curiosity and let’s get this car in your hands.

Shipping is your responsibility. I’m happy to deliver it to any shipper you like. Also, I would like a $500 refundable deposit to hold the vehicle, and payment needs to be in full (that clears my financial institution) prior to taking it to a shipping location of your choice (assuming you are not in Houston).

For a Cabriolet, which typically shows the highest values, this seems like a very reasonable asking price given the mileage and apparent condition. While it’s had a number of owners, it appears to have been shown quite a bit of care. The interior looks in especially good condition. My most immediate hesitation is that the rear bumper looks slightly off where it connects to the rear fender. Perhaps this is just something amiss with the photo but it would be worth investigating. Otherwise, a good looking 993 at a reasonable ask, there’s not a whole lot more to say.
