Though lately I’ve been writing up various 911 variants from the ’70s and ’80s, my mind keeps turning to the 993 and I have been telling myself to feature one or two of them here at GCFSB. So I’ll begin with this one: an stunningly beautiful 1997 993 C2S painted Guards Red with Black leather interior, located in California. Offered with either all-wheel drive as the Carrera 4S or rear-wheel drive as the Carrera S, the S version of the 993 had a lower suspension and featured the wider rear fenders of the 993 Turbo while remaining naturally aspirated. It also retained the standard moveable rear spoiler rather than taking on the Turbo’s whale tale. While some prefer the spoiler, I’ve always preferred the whale tale. Either way, with its wider body, the Carrera S had a much more aggressive look compared with its slimmer Carrera siblings and for many enthusiasts presents a much more desirable overall look.

I think this car speaks for itself. It’s eye-catching and appears to have been very well cared for. I actually prefer the multi-spoke wheels it’s currently wearing over the standard 5-spoke wheels so really I don’t think I’d change anything. 993 values seem destined to continue their upward trajectory and an excellent C2S in Guards Red such as this one should have no trouble following that trend.

Wow! I have never seen a clean non-turbo 993 engine compartment before. Any 993 with a solid pedigree should maintain or increase in value in the years to come. I had the opportunity to drive a turbo recently and all the hype is reality.
