2000 Mercedes-Benz SL500

t1

Roughly two months again I featured a 1992 500SL in the non-neutral colors of Teal Blue Metallic combined with Lago Metallic that got a positive reaction.  Today we have another R129 SL500 that is another shade of teal although this time it’s Mineral Green. It stands out and catches your eye but not enough to seem garish or offensive. So let’s take a look at this handsome late-model R129 in Atlanta, Georgia.

I tell this to anyone looking for a non-M120 R129: find the nicest late-model one you can with the sport package and xenon headlights. Mercedes nailed the bumpers with the twisted side skirts which suit the car perfectly, and the 18-inch star wheels complete the look. This car shows how well the model can look even in any color. The major selling point outside of the color is the low miles, with only a tick over 56,000. It’s pretty clear this was a weekend cruiser given it’s condition under the hood as well. The interior color combination inside is a little odd as I really would’ve preferred black but I guess you could live with it if you really like Mineral Green.

At $16,500, this price is high for a M113 car even with it’s 56,000 miles. R129 values have been really soft for a while now outside of the V12 cars and over $16,000 is probably too optimistic. You can go grab a sport package car with 100,000 miles on eBay for $8,500-10,000 all day if you are patient enough. Having 40,000 miles less isn’t getting you another $6,500. This car also need a cleaning on the drivers side door panel (if not replaced entirely) and carpet, as it appears someone was rubbing their dirty feet all over it enough times to leave pretty big marks. Details like that make this a $10,000-11,000 car, and not a $16,500 one.
