As many are aware, Porsche values have gone a bit crazy over the past few years, especially for classic 911s but also for many variants of the 964 and 993. Pretty much any air-cooled example remains a strong investment, assuming the owner has shown it proper care over its life. There is, however, still value to be had with the 911 as I have featured with a couple examples of the 996TT. If you all will indulge me a bit my aim is to gain a better understanding of the market for these cars so I hope to feature a few more. The negatives of the 996 relative to its predecessors are well known and I won’t rehearse them here, though given that many of those negatives are largely subjective, many buyers may find that the 996 makes for an amazing car. All of which brings us to the car featured here, an Orient Red 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo located in Indianapolis.

I am offering one of my favorite cars for auction. I have owned this 996TT for a little over a year now. I have too many Porsche’s and this one needs to move on to the next owner! I am a PCA member. I have owned and currently own many Porsches. The previous owner was a friend and he was a PCA member as well. There really are no surprises with this car. It has been cared for very well. All documentation comes with the car. The car has not been wrecked or molested in any way. The leakdown numbers were less than 4% on each cylinder. That is excellent. All 996TT and GT-3 Engines of this era were hand assembled by Porsche Motorsports literally one at a time. Excellent engines. The transmission was completely rebuilt about 1,000 miles ago and performs flawlessly. It was rebuilt to replace a worn synchro between 2nd and 3rd. There was never a problem with the tranny and now it shifts perfectly. The last owner removed the OEM seats for GT-3 Seats and I put these originals back in. There is little to no wear on these seats. All options work, no Check anything lights, it is a legit very clean car.
Options include: 3-M Clear Bra, Xenon headlights, 6 disk cd changer, front and rear supple leather, Alcantara headliner, leather dashboard and door panels, driver side memory seat, dual power seats, power sunroof, 18 inch turbo wheels with FRESH Powder Paint, digital audio system, PSM traction control, digital climate control, headlight squirters, fog lamps, privacy glass, cruise control, rear power adjustable spoiler, split folding rear seats, 3 spoke leather steering wheel, telescoping steering wheel, cassette player, power hood and trunk release, power windows-locks-mirrors and more.
This coupe is in excellent overall condition. It runs and drives well and shows almost no wear. It’s a non-smoker vehicle and the interior is just as clean as the exterior. Please see all pictures that I posted.
This vehicle was sold 2 weeks ago but the sale fell through as the buyer had health issues come up.
It’s strange, I don’t see many 911s in this color. Yet, I’m fairly certain this is the third 911 we have featured over the past two weeks to come in some shade of Burgundy. And, really, it’s a fantastic color combination along with the Tan interior! Just lovely. This 996TT has a few more miles on it than the previous models I’ve featured and, while it appears in very good condition, with any car of this nature a thorough PPI is essential. Like those other cars though, this is supercar performance for (relatively, at least) a bargain price. The ‘Item specifics” section has a couple errors in regard to the color, but my sense is that this is simply a typo. Something to be aware of, but hopefully nothing major. Bidding right now is at $25,100 with the reserve still on and I would expect this car should sell for around $40K so we should see the bids come up over the next few days. With 400+ hp being delivered to all four wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission, that’s a tough price to beat.
