2001 Porsche 911 Turbo

We don’t come across very many examples of the 996TT with extremely low mileage. While few we see are ever high mileage most show at least 30K miles or have been significantly modified. I assume the low-mileage examples are being held by speculators planning to wait a bit longer to see if the 996 market shows an uptick, but here we have a seller who has decided the time is right to try to sell. With just 5,700 miles this Guards Red 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe, located in Florida, appears to have led a low-stress and pampered life and should provide an opportunity to own a 996TT that is almost like new.

I imagine some of the interior bits on this car won’t appeal to everyone, but even so everything looks well cared for and in the sort of condition we would expect. For a 996TT the Buy It Now price is quite high, much of which surely has to do with the low mileage, and the seller surely is hoping to target the collector audience. Perhaps that’s a useful ploy, but since the 996 has garnered little interest among collectors a buyer would have to be thinking very long term. Still, even at this price these remain a huge performance bargain. With bidding only at $30,100 we’re likely far from its reserve, but perhaps that simply will make room for some post-auction negotiation.

The car is owned by the dealer, they’re actually an off shoot of a Kia dealer. This car has had less than 1000 miles on it over the last 10 years, yikes. If they were holding out for an uptick they have a long way to go to get back to even. These 996 turbos are darn nice performance bargains these days. Thats a heck of a lot of turbo 911 for not a lot of dough. Yea its ugly, and yea the interior is cheesy but it goes like stink.

Everything eventually looks good again, and with age – many will forgive the ‘ugly ducklingness’ of these cars. Look @ 70’s corvettes? Most people love them now after hating on them for 20 plus years. Agreed – a performance bargain, but not an (appreciating) collector any time soon. Buy a higher mileage / lower cost one, to DRIVE, DRIVE, DRIVE!
