One thing about the Porsche Carrera GT is that it makes no apologies. There is no additional single clutch gearbox for people who want to just scoot around, no soft comfort seats, and certainly, nothing to save you when things get hairy. It is pure take it or leave it and if you are brave enough, you can find out what the limit really is in one of these. I think that is one part of why these have shot up in value like crazy as there certainly will never be another car like the Carrera GT. Today’s car, a Guards Red example up for sale in California, certainly brings one of those crazy price tags but also a fair amount of miles for one of these.

It certainly seems like the values on these now are entirely based on color and mileage. The silver and black cars of course trade for less, and once you start getting into colors, the price goes up. Of course, if the car just had a massive service, that also helps with resale value.
This Guards Red car is nearing 10,000 miles and based on mileage alone would probably fall around $1,300,000, but the color tacks another $350,000. Too high? I think so honestly. The real value is probably somewhere between those two numbers, but if you want a red one, what are you going to do? Wait for the next one? Just wish this one had a little more information as well.

Say what you will, I find the GT to be one of the ugliest designs out there.
That, and a lack of $1.6M, is why I won’t I buy one.
buy a silver one for 350k less and put a Guards Red wrap on it for 5k? done and done.
$ 1.6 M That’s a lot of $ how much were they new and how many did they make ?
