2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S

Wood trim in a Porsche 911 has always been an interesting debate. On one side, this is a pure sports car, leave the wood for BMW and Mercedes-Benz if you want luxury. On the other, some will argue that this is also a GT car and having some wood on the dash, steering wheel, and where ever else they could put it is just fine. Clearly buyers want this, because billion dollar car companies don’t just blindly do things without tons of research and market analysis, no matter how much we want to believe they do. This 2006 911 C2S has some wood on the inside and not just the shift knob and steering. No, this 997.1 is optioned with the Makassar Package to finished off the Sea Blue interior just right in my eyes. Wait until you see it.

Personally, I love the spec on this car. GT Silver over Sea Blue and the wonderfully dark wood in just the right spots. I’m generally a “no wood” guy for 911s, but something about this set-up just looks really well done. The wood doesn’t smack you in the face like some other lighter shades, and blends in perfectly with the rest of the interior. Add in the fact that this is a C2S, and all of a sudden this is a really appealing car. The dealer says it has a new clutch along with an IMS flange, but I’m trying to figure out if that means an upgraded IMS bearing. You’d be insane to put in a new clutch and not do the IMS service while you were in there, so lets hope it was done.

This one has just under 39,000 miles and posts a price of $46,000. An amazing price? Of course not. You can slide into a 997.2 CS2 for this kind of money if you hunt hard enough. However, if you want a really sorted C2S with the rare wood, then this is probably what you are going to pay. The thing is, is there a giant market for these? You have the think the vast majority of 911 buyers don’t want wood, which is why the cars you do see with them are few and far between, so it is kind of counter intuitive why this car is asking a premium. Dealers will be dealers, I suppose.
