1982 BMW 320is with 37,000 Miles

I’ve recently been on a bit of a kick enjoying the looks of the BBS Mahle wheels. I’m not entirely sure why they appeal more to me today than they did last week, or last year, or even when my father had a set on his 1982 BMW 633CSi two decades ago. Then, I felt they looked outdated and undersized and really preferred the looks of the RS wheels he later placed on the CSi; but there’s a certain purity about the original design that I really like. Generally associated with the E9 and E24 models, the BBS Mahle wheels also made an appearance on the E21 320is. Today’s example is stunning in Henna Red with claimed original condition and lower mileage; but does that support the high asking price?

1967 Porsche 912

We’re always on the look out for interesting and/or rare cars here at GCFSB and this excellent looking Bahama Yellow 1967 Porsche 912 with Caramel interior certainly ticks the first box. The seller hasn’t listed the mileage, but it appears to be just under 80K (assuming the odometer hasn’t rolled over) and in its past has had a rebuilt big bore engine. Other additions include a set of Fuchs and wood steering wheel from the 911S parts bin along with rally lighting and grille-mounted fog lights. The vast majority of 912s we come across, even those in great condition, reflect their entry-level roots and remain simple cars. This one here though has been turned up a notch and really appears to be an excellent example of what, for a short time, was an alternative to the 911.

1988 Porsche 944

On Monday, our new GCFSB Guest Contributor, Pablo Deferrari of flüssig magazine featured a very detailed historical snapshot and analysis of a low mileage 1984 Porsche 944. Now here comes another low mileage, slightly newer 944 on offer in Tennessee. With all these mint 944s circulating around, it’s a prime opportunity to try out one of these well-balanced sports cars.

Wednesday Wheels Roundup

For today’s Wednesday Wheels I have some more affordable options and some of my favorite aftermarket wheels. I’ve been neglecting Brabus for Mercedes-Benz, but they make some great looking wheels that are just subtle enough to look slightly different than stock but more aggressive. It’s an understated look that can really dress the car up. I love the BBS Mahle wheels in the right offset on early BMWs, even if they are only 14″ wheels. Try getting good tires for those today! The Speedline MIM wheels are some of my favorites and rare to see, and I just love how those Empi wheels look on early VWs. Another rare set is the Fittipaldi/OZ 3-piece wheels, though they may be better suited to a track car. All of these are cool to see for one reason or another – what’s your favorite?

1991 Audi 200 20V Quattro Avant

If I’m completely honest, this was not the car that was originally slated for this spot. Rather, it was a excellent condition black 1991 200 20V quattro Avant – a rare specimen in any event given the less than 200 that made it here originally, but in near mint condition they’re especially rare. Alas, it was not to be; that car sold, and in it’s place I managed to find…another 1991 200 20V quattro Avant. Perhaps I should play the lottery, since best guestimates place only around 100 of these Audi super-wagons on the road today. This example is presented in the more common Pearlesant White Metallic that was the calling card of Audi in the late 80s/early 90s, but inside we find black sport seats – a nice treat on the 200s and substantially more comfortable than the “comfort” seats I had in my 1989 200. The rest…well, the rest reads a bit like a normal 23 year old Audi does these days…
