Oh, Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG, what have you done this time? When this 2016 first caught my eye, I thought it was a gaudy vinyl wrap installed by some shop that took up residence in some old garage six months ago. However, this isn’t a vinyl wrap, this is paint straight from Mercedes-Benz. The color is called designo Desert Sand, and I give them credit, this looks like desert sand. To go even further, it has a matching desert sand interior, and they didn’t go lightly on that either. As wild as it is, the previous generation is now old news with the new G terrorizing curbs at the local mall in the nice end of town. So what happens to the values of this crazy AMG G-Wagens? Well for this specific example, it might be a little different.

Like mentioned, I would have bet this was some kind of gold leaf wrap and was ready to dump all over it. Then I remembered that designo did a crazy run of colors towards the end of the run to move units before the highly anticipated new G arrived. Maybe it is just the lighting and the setting, but this is less “desert sand” and way more “fake gold”. However, this G63 has much bigger problem than just an odd color. This truck, for whatever reason, has a Lemon & Manufacturer Buyback title. I’d love to know exactly what triggered this, but it seems this dealer is confident they can sell again.
Looking at the mileage and then looking at the asking price of $102,500, there doesn’t seem to be any discount for the bad title at all. That is really strange to me because conventional wisdom says bad title usually mean significantly lower prices to those cars, and probably even more so on six-figure cars where buyers can literally afford to be picky. I think this one might sit for awhile, or take a nice boat ride to the Middle East or Eastern Europe where the term “Lemon & Manufacturer Buyback title” doesn’t seem to have a translation into the local language for whatever reason.
