It still makes me wonder why the R230 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is so inexpensive. I know they are now 20 years old and very much considered “used” cars, but they are generally good in the grand scheme of cars that use to cost $100,000. I don’t think they’ve aged all that poorly considering when it was designed and built, and actual quality isn’t that bad either. Today’s car, a 2004 SL500 up for sale in Florida, has the classic look of understated on the outside but a totally wild interior.

I’m officially declaring that spring is in the air. We are into mid-March now and soon the weather will turn for the better. That means car season is here and convertible season is soon to follow. Today, I wanted to look at one of my old favorites that always bring joy to me no matter the engine size or the condition – the W113 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. I think these are one of the most classic Mercedes models in terms of package and usability of them even over 50 years later. I am not alone in this thinking therefore prices are not cheap. However, this 1968 280SL up for sale in Virginia comes in at a somewhat reasonable price and I’m not sure why.

Comments closedThere is no greater example of a car I love but have no interest in owning than the Mercedes-Benz 600. I’ve opined for years about them and every time I see one for sale it’s a new treat. Today’s example, a 1966 up for sale in Portugal, has its surprises and little fun features that always impress me. It also carries a hefty price tag too.

1 CommentThe Mercedes-Benz GLK350 debuted for the 2010 model year in North America as a compact luxury crossover SUV and it was bad. It was really bad. The styling was bizarre with odd proportions, the powertrain was average at best, and the interior was some of the worst garbage Mercedes-Benz ever produced. Pre-molded hard plastic over everything with glossy plastic faux wood joined by vinyl seats that split and peeled if you looked at it the wrong way. Even the infotainment was a massive disappointment with its small screen and bad resolution. This is purely just a post to remind you how bad these things were and to never ever buy one. I hope I’m clear enough.

6 CommentsThis is the end of the road for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class coupe. Following the 2020 model year, Mercedes made a huge decision on pulling the plug for the S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet model, which have been around in one way or another since the W142 chassis that debuted in 1937. The reason given was to cut down the massive line-up of cars to make it a little easier on dealers as well as shift focus to electric offerings. Crazy how we can go from twin-turbocharged V12s making 620 horsepower to all-electric cars basically overnight. Mercedes is telling its customers to go buy the new R232 SL if they want a grand tourer coupe, but that is clearly not the same as the king of the hill S-Class. What will all that mean? I think the current C217 and A217 are going to be very collectible.
