So you’ve just bought a Euro M635CSi and it came with the fantastic looking but tough to live with TRX wheels. What’s a shark addict to do? Well, if you want to keep a look similar to the original but stand out just a bit, how about these wide-lip 8.5″ BBS RZ wheels?
Besides the good weather, one benefit to living in California is the never ending stream of privately imported vehicles that arrive regularly from the Far East. Most coming into the ports these days are Japanese machinery forbidden to us, such as Nissan Skylines, Toyota Soarers and the odd, diminutive Kei car. Occasionally, a few European motors will be sourced, such as this 600 SWB. Just a few days ago, we featured a very nice, original 600 SWB, but this one is a bit different. This 600 comes equipped with the divider between the front and rear passenger compartments, a rare option for the “smaller†variant of the 600 range. Also, velour upholstery is present in the rear compartment in place of the more common leather.
A few weeks ago, Paul took a look at a beautiful 1991 M5, a car often lost in the shuffle. It’s not that it wasn’t an impressive car; it’s just that the cars that bookend it have been lumped into “Legendary” status and the E34 model has not. The E28, long also ignored, has finally gotten the recognition it deserves as a fantastic and great looking sports sedan; similarly, the 400 horsepower E39 – the car that redefined the market – is already being considered by most the car to have. That leaves the smart buyer to look at the quite stylish, silly fast E34 model, most notable for being the last of the “handbuilt” M cars. Today, there’s a nice example on Craigslist:
For years, the Porsche 944 soldiered on as a sports coupe. It wouldn’t be until 1990 that Porsche decided to test the waters with the 944S2 Cabriolet. Sold in limited numbers, the car would offer buyers a cheaper alternative to an open roofed 911. It’s longevity in the market was short, as Porsche unveiled a 944 replacement for 1992 in the form of the 968. Porsche would yet again offer a drop top variant in the new lineup, however. Let’s look at two very nice examples of these rare convertible Porsches, the first a clean 944S2 Cabriolet for sale in Maryland.
While the 911 Turbo doesn’t garner many complaints, there is one that does come up: since the 993 it has only been available with all-wheel drive. Some feel that all-wheel drive lacks the purity of rear-wheel drive and for others it is simply a matter of the additional weight brought on by all-wheel drive. Thankfully, Porsche provided a solution: the GT2. The formula for the GT2 was somewhat simple: more power, less weight. Shedding the all-wheel-drive system in favor of rear-wheel drive took care of much of the weight savings, while also providing a dynamic balance that more closely resembled the ferocity of the earlier 911 Turbos. Improved suspension, chassis, and braking provided the necessary means to keep the car in line and in the end buyers had the ultimate 911. With the introduction of the GT3 for 996, the GT2 was no longer the center of Porsche’s homologation efforts, but it nonetheless remained a track-focused variant of the 911 Turbo. Which brings us to the car featured here: a Black 2003 Porsche 911 GT2, located in Texas. With more than 26K miles, the mileage isn’t low for a car like this, but it’s hardly a high mileage vehicle either.
