1991 Audi V8 Quattro

The Audi V8 quattro – one of my all time favorites. Finding a good one these days is difficult, especially if you’re not a fan of very popular Pearlesant White that a fair amount seem to be. In fact, prior to today I had written up four Pearl V8 quattros; like 3 of those examples, today’s is one of the earlier 3.6 “PT” engined cars, with subtle differences to the 1992-1994 4.2 V8s. Like the later cars, the 1991s gained the light and fashionable BBS RZ wheels; seemingly a requisite for luxury German motoring in the late 80s and early 90s. Other than that, there weren’t too many running changes to 1991 cars – but this particular example is offered in the rare-to-see Opal Pearl metallic and seems to shrug off most of its 170,000 miles:

1991 Volkswagen DoKa Tristar Syncro

There’s been some chatter about whether the US government will end the infamous chicken tax, a tariff placed on potato starch, brandy and, oddly enough, light trucks during the Johnson administration. Given the limited variety of new compact pickups available to consumers, a repeal of this tax would be a boon for consumers, as there are a number of attractive options from foreign manufacturers, most notably Volkswagen, with their new pickup, the Amorak. While Volkswagen fans dream of the day they could trailer their vintage Mk1 and Mk2 iron behind a pickup truck wearing the same badge, they can satisfy their cravings with this T3 Double Cab Tristar Syncro for sale in San Diego.

1991 Audi 200 20V Quattro

Though produced in similarly small numbers and both enjoying their own separate and unique fan base, we seldom see both V8 quattros and 200 quattros for sale at the same time anymore; it’s generally one or the other. So is this car the start of a 200 trend after our string of 4 in a row Pearlesant V8 quattros? Either way, I’ll be happy. It’s interesting to me how similar and yet different the V8 and 200 20V are; they executed the same goal in such a different way you’d be forgiven for thinking they were from different companies entirely. While both shared many body panels, wheels, brakes, nearly the full interior and major drive train components, the engines weren’t the only difference and there are surprisingly a large amount of them. As such, while it’s rare to see a modified V8 quattro, it’s quite rare to find a stock 200 20V; but this particular model has some fairly subtle modifications that don’t detract from the overall package:

White Christmas Sunday: 1991 Audi 200 20V Avant

Last week’s high-mile but pristine 200 20V Quattro Avant got a lot of attention, and deservedly so. It is a fantastic looking driver despite the high miles and was obviously well cared for. Today we have a car with significantly less miles but not as pristine as the Bamboo Metallic example. Will it be the car that makes your Christmas white though?

White Christmas Sunday: 1991 Audi V8 Quattro – REVISIT

In the last month or so, I wrote up three different V8 quattros that were all Pearlesant White Metallic 3.6s, all in great condition. One of those cars has popped back up on Ebay with a substantially lowered Buy It Now price. At under $5,000, will this V8 Quattro make your Christmas white? I sure wouldn’t mind finding it under the tree this year!
