1980 Porsche 911SC Weissach

Way back in 1980, Porsche decided to cook up a little special edition model for its wildly popular 911SC. It was pitched as an edition to honor the Porsche Motorsports team working in Weissach and I suppose it was an honor well deserved seeing as Porsche dominated nearly every racing series they enter in the 1970s. It was named the “Weissach” and just 468 units were produced. Half were painted Metallic Black, the other half in Platinum Metallic. Other special touches were a flexible lip on the front air dam, whale tail rear spoiler, Bilstein shocks, color-matched Fuchs wheels, and Doric Grey leather upholstery with burgundy accents. MSRP came in at around $32,000, which wasn’t a premium at all compared to the standard 911SC.

Today, we have one of those examples up for sale in Texas finished in Platinum Metallic with an impressive 106,000 miles on the odometer. Worth the buy if you are looking for a driver?

2012 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Coupe

It’s hard to believe it took Porsche until the facelift generation of the 997 to utilize the GTS moniker on a 911 considering it started way back in 1963 with the 904 Carrera GTS. It had a nice run on the 924, 928, and even the Cayenne of all things before hitting the signature model 911. Strategically, it slotted in perfect between the Carrera S and the hardcore GT3 for the drivers who wanted more but not enough to rattle the fillings out of their teeth. Now, the GTS badge is literally on every model Porsche produces as the value is there for buyers and well, people see it as the true sweet spot of their model range.

Today we have a 2012 up for sale in today in the Bay Area with just under 8,000 miles on the odometer. On the outside you have the classic Basalt Black Metallic, while the interior is covered in Carrera Red leather. This is a special one.

2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring

One of the hottest cars since its launch earlier this year has been no real surprise. The new Porsche 911 GT3 Touring has outrageous demand – so much so that some dealers are charging up to $75,000 in “market adjustment” and the used market is asking over six figures on top of the MSRP if you can find one. Getting an allocation is basically a winning lottery ticket although if you flip it as soon as you take delivery, good luck ever getting the call again for one of these.

Today, we have a basically new example with just 112 miles in a fairly tame spec on the outside. It’s plain black with silver wheels and black brake calipers. Although once you peek inside, it gets awfully bright.

1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S

It seems that Porsche wasn’t afraid of turquoise judging by the 930 Turbo I looked at a few weeks ago. As you can see by today’s car, they certainly weren’t scared of it on the outside of their cars either. This 1996 911 Carrera 4S is a desirable car in any shade, but in paint-to-sample Dragonfly Turquoise Metallic? Oh boy. Rumor has it that this was a press and demo car for Porsche AG in Germany and then changed hands to an employee who owned the car from 1998 to 2007. That certainly explains I’ve never seen one in this color and it has the extra touches on the interior. The price? I guess we’ll be guessing on this one.

1997 Porsche 911 Carrera S

I suppose one of the great things about cars is there is always more to learn. Today’s car is one of those moments where I was pleasantly surprised to learn something totally new. You might be looking at that photo above and saying “Yes, that is a 1997 911 Turbo S.” I also as a reasonable person with Porsche knowledge jumping to that conclusion also. Why? All the 993 Turbo S cars have unique venting in the rear quarter panels I thought were only used on that model. Not even the standard 993 Turbo has it. Well, the car we are looking at today is a 1997 911 Carrera S. How did it get those vents in the front of the rear wheel arches? Apparently, it was a very rare option. If you ordered “X79 – Side air vents on rear wings” you could have those little vents, but considering this is the first non-Turbo S I’ve ever seen them on, I’d say they are pretty rare.
