2012 Porsche 911 Club Coupe

You might have a rare car, but do you have one of 12 rare? Well, technically one of 13 but I’ll explain that in a second.

This is a 2012 Porsche 911 Club Coupe. The story goes that Porsche produced this to commemorate the first 13 Porsche club members in 1952. Based on the 991 Carrera S, all were finished in Brewster Green over Expresso Brown leather and were equipped with the Powerkit, SportDesign bodywork, 20″ wheels with matching spokes, PASM, ceramic brakes, the Bose audio system, adaptive headlights, front and rear parking assist, auto-dimming mirrors, and aluminum trim. 12 lucky owners were chosen from a Porsche club raffle, and one of the 13 cars stayed with Porsche for their collection. Sticker price was around $140,000 and judging by the asking price of this one, it was money well spent.

2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S Club Coupe

In a modern manufacturing world where everything is calculated down to the penny and scaling is everything, it is a wonder we as consumers of cars actually were presented with some really low-volume examples. I’m not talking a few thousand or a few hundred, I’m talking just 50. Yes, somehow someone at Porsche convinced the production planners to make 50 identical cars, all in the same special color and specs, and just for the US market as well. You can go back and read about the 997 Club Coupe the last time I looked at one, but today I wanted to check out this example with just 6,200 miles on the odometer. I was really excited for this one, then I saw something that didn’t make sense to me. Let me explain.

2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S Club Coupe

One of the more interesting special editions to come out of Porsche in the last 20 years was the 2006 911 Carrera S Club Coupe. As a thank you to PCA members, or maybe a way to milk some more money (probably both), Porsche produced 50 Club Coupes only available to PCA members though a random drawing of everyone who put their name in the hat. If they were chosen, of course they still had to pay $105,000 for a Carrera S painted in exclusive Azzurro California and with a bunch of options. For comparison, a 2007 911 Turbo was around a $120,000 at the time, so this was not a cheap C2S. Seems like a bad deal, right? Well, not if you held on to it for all these years.

2013 Porsche 911 Club Coupe – 1 of 13

It seems there are so many 911 Club Coupes these days that I can’t even recall which are intended to celebrate which milestone. The one we see here, a 2013 Porsche 911 Club Coupe, was built to celebrate 60 years of Porsche clubs worldwide. It’s a more general celebration than the 2016 Club Coupe (and 2006 Club Coupe before that), which celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Porsche Club of America.

So what distinguishes the 2013 version? Based off of the Carrera S Coupe, it came with a special Brewster Green exterior contrasted with an Espresso interior. The color combination is quite striking though in a much more subdued way than the extremely bright Club Blue of the 2016 version. To bring additional performance the Powerkit was included as standard along with ceramic brakes, Sport Chrono and PASM. Only 13 were built and the lucky buyers were selected by lottery and asked to pay just over $175K. Like with many Porsche special editions you could spec a similar 911 for less money, though you wouldn’t get the special exterior paint.
