2012 Porsche Panamera S

I paid a visit to the local Porsche dealer over the long weekend to check out the wares, specifically the Macan S. As great as the PDK transmission is, I would still prefer the Macan with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Given that is not on the option list, it has fallen down a few notches on the list of potentials for my second vehicle. One car that was available for a time with a manual gearbox of which few are aware is the Panamera. After it first debuted, certain rear-drive models, including this Panamera S for sale on the western border of Germany near Saarbrücken were available with a 6-speed manual. Few, if any, Panameras made it to the US with three pedals. I personally have yet to come across one. Even still, in Europe, these big sedans so equipped are rare.

1982 Porsche 911SC

I do frequently find myself returning to the 911SC. Even those we might consider fairly basic examples tend to attract my notice more so than the other models. On the other hand, quite a few of those other models attract greater notice from me when I happen to come across one in a peculiar color or a special edition. But the SC attracts me even when there isn’t much more to be said than I think it looks like a good car in nice shape. I think that’s what we have here with this Guards Red 1982 911SC Targa located in Nashville. It’s bright red so I cannot properly say it isn’t flashy, but we come across Guards Red pretty often with any 911 from the ’80s so it isn’t a color that really makes us take notice. But that red exterior looks good and contrasts nicely with this Tan interior. The 911SC has remained a popular option among many 911 fans for its combination of reliability, classic looks, and pretty reasonable performance. They won’t necessarily blow you away, but that doesn’t mean they can’t provide a long life of enjoyable motoring.

Tuner Tuesday: 1987 Porsche 911 Turbo Slantnose Cabriolet

There are days when I look at my Audi Coupe GT and think I did it all wrong. I stripped it out, made it hot and uncomfortable; too loud, too stiff, too track biased. It’s fun to drive in short bursts when it’s not hot, or cold, or raining, but there’s a bit of regret that I’m not able to drive and enjoy it more regularly. And it’s too black – it looks fantastic when it’s briefly clean, but every single scratch, nick, and scuff stand out like pimples on a teenager’s face before prom. But, you’d say, it’s a lowly Audi Coupe. Most people don’t even know what they are, and even 95% of those who do wouldn’t care if I made it however I wanted it to be. But what if I had a bigger budget? And, what if I was even more crazy?

I might have made something like this 911. It started life as a ’87 911 Turbo Cabriolet. Maybe. But then someone had an idea, a lot of drugs, and even more money. The result is an absolutely crazy 935-inspired 911 Turbo Slantnose Cabriolet that is so wildly awesome and horrible at the same time you’ll never unsee it:

1987 Porsche 930 Slantnose Coupe – REVISIT

s-l1600

The 1987 Porsche 930 Slantnose Coupe we featured back in January 2015 has come back up for sale. Nothing much appears to have changed over that year and a half as it’s still being offered by the same seller, has a similar – though slightly higher – price tag, and only 200 extra miles on the clock. The market went through a bit of a roller-coaster since the last time this 930 was featured and I will be interested to see if it now sells.

1977 Porsche 911S Coupe

This one might be a little too close to my own preferences with regard to color, but I hope others find this 911 as great looking as I do. Here we have a Minerva Blue Metallic 1977 Porsche 911S Coupe, located in New York, with a Cork interior and 46,394 miles on it. This combines two of my favorites. Minerva Blue is a wonderful shade of blue as we’ve seen before and Cork is easily my favorite among the various tan interior options Porsche has made available. Combined they work fantastically well together. Outside of those colors things get a little more tricky. A ’77 911 finds few favorites and those that do look for these models typically have their eye on their lower values. The price here extends us outside of that sort of search. Still it’s a beautiful looking example that sits with pretty low miles.
