Here we have another 911 coming from the value range of 911 models, but this 911 will be no value. This one-owner Black Metallic 1979 Porsche 911SC, located in Michigan with Saddle Tan leather interior, sits with a mere 9,158 miles on it. That makes it the lowest mileage 911SC I have come across and certainly one of the lowest mileage in existence. I’ll admit I find it quite strange that such a car would have come this far having covered so few miles, but here we are. This isn’t a Carrera RS or some other uber rare 911, nor was the iconic stature of the 911 secure during the time of the SC’s production. Regardless of how we got here this is a time capsule and it looks in the sort of shape we would expect from a car with such low mileage. It also happens to come in a more rare Black Metallic exterior rather than the standard Black.

A “Once-in-a-lifetime” find!
For sale is a 1979 Porsche 911SC with 9158 ACTUAL MILES. The one and only owner purchased this car new 36 years ago at Fred Lavery Porsche in Birmingham, MI. This car has only ever been driven by the owner and was for the shear pleasure of being behind the wheel of a Porsche. This amazing vehicle has NEVER been in snow or a location with salty sea air and have always been stored in a temperature controlled garage. The vehicle is ALL ORIGINAL and has been meticulously cared for in a smoke-free environment the original floor mats are in perfect condition and underneath the ones in the photos. The harder to find saddle tan interior STILL SMELLS NEW. There is no damage history or accidents of any kind to this vehicle. This vehicle has never even been left outdoors unattended. The vehicle has black metallic paint and includes the factory bra, owners manual, and maintenance records.
If in 1979 your dream was to own a new Porsche but for whatever reason were unable and now you have the means to do so; this is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
It’s as if this vehicle is straight from a time capsule; perfectly preserved and maintained by a Porsche enthusiast and is now ready for the next 911 Porsche appreciator.
Somewhat unsurprisingly given the extremely high asking price this auction sits with zero bids. It’s tough to know what such an extremely-low-mileage 911SC is worth, but I do think it’s safe to say that number is not $100K. Furthermore, an auction like this surely would benefit from higher quality photography and it is a must that documentation to verify its originality also is presented. We don’t get any of those items here so I would be shocked to see this attract much notice, but if the car is everything it purports to be then there certainly will be buyers interested in it. The price still will need to be lowered, but there should be significant interest for such a rarely found example of the breed.

Did this thing have the high-stance Rallye package or something? That, or they jacked this thing up and then didn’t drive it to get the stance back down to normal.
Now the buy it now price is $199,500!
Yeah, well nobody buys an SC to put into a museum and if you drive this one it’ll be worth less with every mile. Nice car. Deluded seller.
People of a Certain Generation may remember that the 911 was scheduled to be phased out of production to be replaced by the 928 and 924. I’m merely speculating but maybe the original owner kept this SC the way he did because he thought he would own a low-mileage example of one of the last 911’s ever made. Just a thought. FWIW, an American named Peter Schutz(sp?) took over the reigns at Porsche in 1980 and one of the first things he did was to resurrect the 911. In retrospect, not a horrible business decision.
As far as the stance of the car in the ad, that was done on US cars to meet the minimum bumper and headlight height requirements that were law at the time.
Have LMAO’d very loudly at that price…
I’m not sure why they added $100K to both the opening bid and the BIN price, but this has clearly become outlandish at this point. Maybe as the auction winds down they’re trying to make the original ask of $99.5K look reasonable? Interesting strategy if so…
