The Slate Grey Metallic 1991 Porsche 911 Turbo we featured in January remains up for sale and the price has been reduced by a little bit from $120K to $115K. I thought the original price was relatively reasonable, so as it comes down this 964 Turbo becomes just that much more appealing.

I have pretty much made it my goal to feature every Slate Grey 964 that I come across. The one we see here, a Slate Grey Metallic 1991 Porsche 911 Turbo, even is a little more special since it’s not just a standard Carrera and at its current asking price it could be a very good value. Naturally, when value becomes such an important consideration then there are a lot of boxes to be checked to insure that the car is as it is represented to be. On the surface, there’s a lot of promise here as the exterior and interior look in good shape, there are a couple of nice options, and it comes with a good deal of recent documentation. It doesn’t sound like it’s fully documented from day 1, but it’s asking price isn’t really at the level of that sort of 964 anyway. As we’ve discussed with previous 964s, the market has really taking a liking to any 964 variant and the Turbo, whether 3.3 or 3.6 liter, stands to perform very well (pardon the pun).

1991 Porsche 911 Turbo (964 Generation) – 63,348 miles / Service Records / Fully Inspected
Our 1991 Porsche 911 Turbo (964) is an excellent example of one of the most beautiful Porsche’s of all time: the 964 Turbo. Our vehicle comes in a gorgeous Slate Grey Metallic exterior paint combined with a Carrara Grey “special leather†interior.
Features & Options
This particular 911 Turbo is loaded with many options and standard features such as: a 5 speed manual transmission, electric sport seats, heated front seats, a power sunroof, a limited slip differential, with a Dark Rootwood shifter lever knob, black leather seat piping (a very rare option), lumbar support for the driver seat, wheels with colored Porsche crests and more. It also includes a Porsche CD-2 radio CD player with a 4-cassette changer.
The previous owner installed a very tasteful Fabspeed exhaust system which sounds much better than the stock exhaust (it is not too loud); we have the original exhaust system as well.
Maintenance & History
Originally sold in Boston, it has spent its entire life in New England and has always been properly maintained and well-documented. In fact, we have every service record dating back to April 2000 which verify its excellent maintenance history. The clutch and flywheel were replaced in 2008 at 49,000 miles; the car shifts very well and the clutch feels smooth. A $3,000 service was just done and included new: breather plate, breather hose, front engine seal, valve casket, front hood struts, oil change and fluids. The car has no leaks and runs very well.
The vehicle has had 3 separate owners in its lifetime: the first from 1991 to 2000, the second from 2000 to 2001 and the third from 2001 until recently. It went through a complete inspection at an authorized Porsche dealership in January 2016 which confirmed its excellent condition; it requires no additional maintenance and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner!
Experience & Pedigree
The exhaust sound is unique and offers a beautiful burble no matter where you happen to find yourself on the power band. Handling is tight and it changes directions with impressive agility. Driving this 964 Turbo is an emotional and highly stimulating experience which brings you right back to the early 90s! This is a testament to the exceptional upkeep of its owners, as well as Porsche’s legendary reliability.
In addition to a large number of service records, the car also comes with its original bill of sale (window sticker), the official Porsche certificate of authenticity (COA), all original owner’s manuals, a Porsche toolkit, 2 master keys and touch-up paint. This is a US-spec vehicle with an impeccable CarFax report and no accidents.
While I do really like Slate Grey Metallic on the 964 – even if I’ll readily admit that any shade of grey really isn’t the most exciting of colors – it is the non-metallic variant, which I think would only be available as paint-to-sample, that I love the most. In either form, the color works so well with the lines of the 964 and I don’t think this example is any different. That said, like yesterday’s Prussian Blue Carrera, I’d love to see this with a less monochromatic interior. That’s a minor grievance overall as there’s nothing overly garish about these colors. It’s a subtle combination that for many might even make this a sleeper. At $120K the price here is pretty good, as it has fairly reasonable mileage though not ultra low. It’s a Turbo that can still be driven and enjoyed, but one that also should hold its value very well.
