What’s your ideal commuter vehicle? This 1995 911 might seem like an unlikely candidate, but our own contributor, Pablo of flüssig magazine runs a 993 like this on a regular basis. As cars become ever larger and more complex, the idea of something older and simpler appeals to me and if you can throw speed into the equation, all the better. This 911 has over 100,000 miles on it, so someone did a good job of enjoying on at least a semi-regular basis. Now it’s time to pass the torch and have someone else enjoy this last example of air-cooled goodness.

I always enjoy seeing higher mileage 911s, because it really does reaffirm the fact that these sports cars can go the distance. Sure, the cost to maintain them is higher than your average runabout, but if you get involved in the Porsche Club, budget smart and learn to wrench on them a bit, it can be a rewarding experience. The current air-cooled craze seems to have affected all cars at all levels of condition. The price for this one is probably a tad strong, with a more realistic value somewhere in the mid to high $30k range. Regardless, I’m dreaming of an air-cooled 911 to keep my R53 Cooper S company some day…
For those interested in adding their own personal touch to this driver quality 993, perhaps a set of 18″ OEM Techno wheels would do the trick. This set is a little rough, but with a refinish should be good as new.

My favorite color for 911s (and 964/993s). I would prefer a 95 car to a 96+ 993 due to its lack of OBD2 which throws a check engine light when (not if) the SAI ports get clogged. I also like that this one has appeared to have had a top end rebuild and clutch. Which are the two most expensive mechanical repairs typically needed on a 993. I prefer a higher mileage one with no mechanical issues to a lower mileage and more expensive one that WILL need these repairs. Still, mileage is a huge factor when determining value and this one is a tad high. Paul is right on, $35k is the right price for this 993. Seller should clean it up a bit more and fix that sagging headliner!
