The Speed Yellow 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe with a slew of RS pieces has come back up for sale. I asked the last time we featured this car whether it was worth the asking price and the consensus appears to be that it is not. Well, that price has come down some, though at $89K the sellers are still asking a lot. Still it’s a wonderfully beautiful machine, possibly one of the best of the 911 breed, there’s just the matter of figuring how much those looks are worth.

I’m going to cut to the chase with this one: on appearance this is a wonderful looking Porsche 911. The Carrera RS from any model always attracts significant attention and obviously the version produced as part of the 993 model would be no different. The question with which we must grapple here is just how much is that fantastic appearance worth? The reason we must ask that is because here that is more or less all we get as the mechanical components of this 993 remain that of a standard Carrera Coupe. There’s no 300 hp 3.8 liter flat-six in the rear and the weight savings probably aren’t up to the full Carrera RS standard, though we should note that the interior modifications should result in some weight loss relative to other 993 coupes. With an asking price of $100,900 the cost of this Speed Yellow 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, outfitted as a Carrera RS, is nearly twice that of a standard Carrera of this vintage. Is it worth it?

This is a 1995 911 Carrera with a 3.6 Liter engine and factory air conditioning. There has been much attention to detail paid to changing this Carrera to a proper Carrera RS Clone. The RS door panels, full leather Recaro bucket seats, front splitter, rear wing, speedline wheels, and all the interior details come together to complete the RS look. While not factory the Fabspeed exhaust perfectly compliments the RS look, and does not disappoint in producing that unmistakable sound that only air cooled Porsche flat sixes can make.
When we factor in that a true Carrera RS can easily reach $300K suddenly the asking price here drifts back into more reasonable territory. A fair degree of the Carrera RS’s value is tied to its long term potential and we must ask ourselves whether this RS clone stands to garner similar interest down the road. Obviously, it won’t be to the same degree, but surely there will be interest. The question is how much. Valuation aside, it really is a fantastic 911. Those Speedline wheels and the somewhat subtle whale tail provide a fantastic compliment and lend a note of purposeful aggression to the already beautiful lines of the 993 Coupe. I have no idea what it would cost to replicate this look on your own, though I imagine sourcing all of the correct pieces would take significant time and effort (and money). In that regard someone may surely snap this one up even given the very high price and they’ll have a 911 that at least looks like one that few will ever see.
