2002 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe

We are always on the lookout for good performance value and as the writer who primarily features the Porsche 911 that isn’t always easy. At least pretty much all 911s provide nice performance, if not nice value! The go to for those looking has long been the 996TT, which for a while represented absolutely silly performance for the price. If you found one with the X50 package you could get supercar levels of performance for around $40K.

Those times have changed. The cat eventually was out of the bag and I guess enough people took notice that prices began to rise. With the air-cooled market rising as well that moved more buyers toward the later water-cooled models. Things haven’t exactly gotten out of hand, but with enough low-mileage examples available it’s pretty common to now see those X50-equipped models priced above $60K. Still good value, but there are other options not far away.

Nonetheless, the search continues and here’s one that comes with a good price: a Seal Grey Metallic 2002 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe, located in Arizona, with 6-speed manual transmission and 99,522 miles on it.

This 911 has always been well cared for its entire life and really shows, having three major services noted in the original booklet and several more services well documented on Carfax. The car is riding on a beautiful set of OEM Turbo Technology wheels. They are all in perfect original condition with only light curb rash on one of the wheels and are wrapped in Pirelli performance tires. The beautiful Black leather interior is all original and looks like great. The subtle carbon and silver accents throughout the interior really set it off. The seat belts and stitching are all black to accent the interior and are a great touch. The center console, and other various accents are finished in carbon fiber. The German leather seats are literally like brand new with no scuffs or deep ware lines. Mechanically, this Porsche is in great condition and runs and drives great. It has very healthy and very quick. The car has a very strong 6-Speed transmission that shifts perfect (feels like newer clutch), and transfers power to the wheels smoothly, this beauty will take any road you can throw at it. The car has just been serviced with Mobil 1 and also had an inspection and was given a clean bill of health. The car has recently had new performance brake pads and a brake system flush. Of course, a good purchase price is only meaningful if the car is in good condition. As you can see this isn’t exactly a low-mileage 911 and on a car like the 911 Turbo those miles mean we must be extra thorough in evaluating its history. The general condition looks good. Inside and out everything looks clean and pretty crisp. The seats show only minor wear and everything looks as it should. Regarding service, we’re told the service book shows some of its history, along with some Carfax reports, but clearly we’re not talking about an exhaustive history here. That’s not ideal, but if the major services have been addressed at the appropriate intervals then we can probably breathe freely. You’ll want a PPI anyway so all of this is just work to try to fill in any gaps and develop an idea of how this Turbo has lived.

It looks in nice shape and well cared for, it’s currently in a nice environment (whether it’s always been there we don’t know), and the price is good. I even think the price could probably come down a little. Even if it doesn’t, you’re getting 415 horses running to all four wheels and a lovely 6-speed transmission all for under $40K. It’s still tough to beat these for performance per dollar.

  1. That’s a great looking potential daily driver for someone. The blue one you posted a few months ago with 74k miles sold on ebay for $45 for this price looks spot on.

  2. Good price but must do a ppi on any turbo, or Porsche for that matter. Hard to beat the performance for the price. 997 turbos cost around $70k, and while they are nicer it is hard to justify such a huge premium.
