A few days ago I featured a 1981 Mercedes-Benz 500SEL which I called a ”money is no object” car. To walk into the dealer 28 years later with that same goal of a ”money is no object” you have your choice of the S63 AMG or the S65 AMG, which is about the same kind of hard decision like picking between Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie. Both are going to cost you a ton of money, (about $133,000 for the S63 and a whopping $198,000 for the S65), both are going to attract a fair amount of attention and both might be a risk to have long-term. But all that be damned, when you are with them, you are going to feel like a million bucks. If this is the kind of feeling you want — as well as maybe a little bit of risk — then this the 2009 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG located in central Massachusetts might just for you.

The reason I chose to feature this S63 over all the others out there is the extensive option list and most importantly the Designo interior. W221 AMG’s are usually optioned out pretty well as they are, but with the additions of the rear seating package and the amazingly useful Distronic Cruise Control really sets this beast apart. The Designo Porcelain Leather is an option for the those who are clean and like to stay clean because any stains on this interior will leave you kicking yourself. On the mechanical side, the service records don’t scare me off being in the CPO program and the owner sounds like a real AMG enthusiast who loves this car. As with all the M156 cars I post, it’s very important to be aware of the head bolt issues that my lurk as this car falls in the range of those engines that suffer.
A quick scan for comparable S63s show this car is priced pretty competitively for what it is. This car sold for over $153,000 and with it’s price at $42,000 it’s tough to argue it’s not worth every penny.
