Update 10/15/18: This 911 GT3 sold for $135,000.
In truth I wasn’t sure I should post this Speed Yellow 2010 Porsche 911 GT3. I just posted a Speed Yellow GT3 a couple days ago so this is a little redundant. However, that was a 996, while this is a 997 and this one just looks so good that I was finding it hard to move on to other options. I figured if I was this interested, then others might be as well.
The other reason I ultimately chose to feature this one was in terms of market. As we’ve seen prices for the 996 have moved up. In some cases those prices even eclipse what you’d be asked to pay for a 997. So anyone looking at a GT3 would do well to consider both options. This is up for auction without reserve so it should give us a nice window into where the market stands. (We also don’t have to worry about an ultra-high reserve, more on that below.)
The 996 still is reputed to be the more pure of these two models, while the 997 is undeniably the better looking car. I like the 996 GT3’s looks, but there is a way in which that is relative to other 996 models. The 997 GT3 and especially the 997.2 like we see here is on another level. This particular example shows off its good looks incredibly well.

I haven’t included the full ad text here because it’s quite long so you’ll want to head to the ad itself if you want the full details. I will warn you: it’s a bit over the top and includes plenty of extraneous information. This is partly why I’m happy this auction has no reserve, because this is exactly the type of ad I’d normally expect to have a sky high reserve that pretty much wastes everyone’s time until the seller steps back into reality. The ad does present us with a lot of pictures and a good look at the details. In that regard it’s well done. In defense of the over-the-top description, this GT3 does look in immaculate condition. And with 15,874 miles on it this isn’t a barely used collector piece. It’s been driven and well cared for and that’s what we like to see. I don’t know that it’s the best example you’ll ever find given that GT3s in really nice condition are more the norm than not, but this one certainly should rank highly.
It also is very well optioned: LWB, PCCB, front axle lift, full leather interior with deviated stitching throughout, floor mats…ok maybe not that one, and a few other standard options. It sounds like the ownership history is known in full, it has no over revs, and no issues. The only non-original items on the car are a Sharkwerks exhaust bypass and light-weight exhaust tips, but the original exhaust comes with the car so you get a nice upgrade in noise along with the ability to revert it to stock if you’d like. It is the total package here that makes everything worthwhile and why I decided to post it.
As for the auction, currently bidding sits at $60,100 and with 996 GT3s now easily moving into the $70Ks and above I’m curious just where this one will end. I expect it’ll be quite a bit more expensive than the 996 from earlier this week, but with 435 horses and such excellent looks, perhaps its worth that extra cost?

Past 105K with 6 days to go.
Wowzers…..past 122K now. It truly is one of the most stunning GT3s I’ve ever seen, but I’m just not a yellow car kinda guy.
