2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S

I know I’m all about the colors, but some maybe are just a tad too far. Case in point: Lizard Green. This is a color you need to be prepared to be asked about every time you stop for fuel. It is so crazy that it is even a little tough to be taken seriously. If you are a lawyer, have fun driving this one to court dates. A C-level exec at a large company? Nothing says “I make a ton of money!” like a lime green Porsche parked out front. You have to own this color and own it fully. Thankfully the car that it is painted on, a 2020 911 Carrera S, has the numbers to back it up. Independent reviews are still clocking this thing to 60-mph in 3 seconds flat and standing ¼-mile times of 11.3 seconds. It is that fast – all while being totally comfortable and reliable. What a world!

Judging by the price on this one, it certainly seems like the demand for the 992 hasn’t cooled off. Sticker was $141,640, and now 7,600 miles, it’s got an asking price of $169,900 – a hefty mark-up to say the least. Even with $10,000 or so in tax, this is still a $20,000 profit for someone. Worth it? If you want a Lizard Green 992 Carrera S, I suppose so. Still, this is a very niche color with a very specific buyer.

I’m in the minority as I love lizard green, but that was a color that was discontinued after less than 1 model year as it was showroom poison for a carrera model (very different audience than those bright GT cars). It was replaced in ’21 with Python Green, itself too much for many buyers. This particular car has been for sale a while now, showing that the market is not at $170k for this one. I think it would sell at $150k to the right buyer.

way too much markup for a 2 yr old car…even if you can live the with the color. I do agree that it is nicely optioned…

I know it is all about supply and demand, YOLO, FOMO but paying sticker for a 2 year old car is silly. People paying these huge premiums above sticker are going to get hammered when things go back to normal and depreciation kicks in. Yesterday on Bring A trailer a $133k MSRP 2021 E63S AMG wagon sold for $195k incl fee. Insanity.
