The 1994 Porsche 928GTS that Andy from flüssig magazine featured back in January is back up for sale, with a Buy It Now of $75,000. The 928GTS is the ultimate expression of Porsche’s long lived GT car, and with the 5-speed manual gearbox it makes it all the more desirable as a collector vehicle.

Time for another Wednesday Wheels Roundup, and I have a few neat sets of wheels I stumbled across. First is the super rare and super awesome (but also super priced) Speedline 3-piece wheels for Porsche Turbos. Though they’re listed as 930 wheels, I more often associate them with the 993 Turbo model. They’re not exactly like the Supercup wheels, but they’re not far off. Next is a non-German set of wheels, but a pretty spectacular one – the Clio Williams is one of my favorite hot-hatches, and these would really suit a BMW or Volkswagen 4-lug well, in my opinion. How about the 7 1/4″ width? Next are some rare Carlsson and Abt wheels that need some work but are both hard to find, and we round out the review with some show-ready Style 29 BBS BMW wheels. What are your favorites and why?

2 CommentsThe Porsche 964 RS America is one of those cars you see from time to time in the marketplace, more often than not having led a pampered life with very few miles accumulated on its odometer. These lightweight 911s are highly collectable nowadays so it’s rare to see one with high mileage, let alone one having covered over 200,000 miles. This RS America for sale in California is the highest mileage example we’ve seen, but appears as if it might have covered only a quarter of the miles. This particular car is one of the first 100 made and has had a rebuilt engine
during its life.

4 CommentsLast week, in my feature of a 911 GT2, I mentioned off hand that from its inception the GT2 has been the ultimate 911 – right up until the release of the GT2 RS, a car that took all of the insanity of the GT2 and decided it was not insane enough. Lo and behold, I then came across one such beast up for sale. Here we have a triple Black 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS, located in California, with 5,781 miles on it. Weighing not much more than 3000 lbs and with power raised to 620 hp along with 516 lb-ft of torque the GT2 RS rivals any supercar and even dips its toes into hypercar territory. Yet it remains a functional machine that, while not an everyday cruiser, still doesn’t require its owners to suffer quite as many sacrifices to comfort and usability as certain Italian rivals might necessitate. It is one of the quickest cars Porsche has ever produced and, look at that, it also has a good ‘ol trusty 6-speed manual transmission, a reality that surely we will not see in future iterations of the GT2 (assuming one actually comes to pass).

2 CommentsAnyone well familiar with the collector Porsche market undoubtedly knows that a lot of the demand that has been responsible for recent price increases comes from Germany. Over the past few years, many of the nicest concours condition examples of 928’s for sale in the U.S. have been purchased by German collectors. The rationale is that it is much harder to find an immaculate example in Europe, as fewer were sold there and therefore fewer collector quality cars with low mileage exist in that market.
Well, this is one of the few European 928 GTS’s that would certainly appear to qualify as a “concoursable†car. With approximately 8,600 miles, this GTS is one of the lowest mileage example’s I’ve seen for sale since I began following the 928 market eight years ago. In addition, I’d imagine that being a single owner German spec car will make this example particularly attractive to German collectors.
