2006 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG

I’d never thought I’d type this, but maybe it isn’t such a bad idea to buy a W220 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG. Okay, maybe that was a little too broad. What I mean is maybe it isn’t such a bad idea to buy a W220 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG if you really want a crazy powerful sedan and have lots of discretionary income to support such a purchase or you were seriously considering last week’s mess of a S600. I think that statement gets a little closer to my point, or maybe it is just one of those situations where it isn’t nearly as bad as it could be.

In the shock of the century, the W220 SL/CL/S65 AMG cars seem to be holding up fairly well considering what could actually go wrong with them. After all, this is what happened when the engineers at AMG turn the dial up to 9, with a 10 only being the SL65 AMG Black Series. Just encase I didn’t make this clear, I’m not saying these are cheap or inexpensive to keep running, but rather the same situation as living in Siberia and saying “Hmm. -8°F today, not that cold at all”. On the price end of the equation, it seems that these have hit rock bottom and dare I even say are actually being sought after by enthusiasts. So when a really sorted example pops up like today’s S65 in Los Angeles, should you actually give it consideration?

2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S

There is something really satisfying to me about a Porsche 911 in blue. I don’t think I’m the only one, as Porsche fans seem to go insane over any crazy that is in a bright shade of blue. So much so, they’ll gladly pay extra to spec them in Paint to Sample. As luck would have it, that is exactly what we have today with this 2006 Carrera S in Mexico Blue up for sale in Alabama. A first year 997 car, this one comes in with a heavy option list with a sticker price of over $108,000. Whats not to like, right? Well, it seems to have the same issue as the 993 I just looked at.

2006 BMW 330Ci ZHP Performance Package

The success of the Motorsport derived versions of each generation of the venerable 3-series mean that it’s both easy and a natural choice to concentrate on them in the used market. But BMW has also offered some pretty special non-M models in the 3-series lineup, and the 2003-2006 330i. Much like the M3, the 330i was available in 2-door coupe and convertible no surprise there – but the 330i was also quite popular as a sedan and the E46 M3 never came in that configuration. If you ticked the ZHP Performance Package box, you paid an additional $3,900 on top of the premium for your top-of-the-line 330i. While that was no small amount of change, what that amount resulted in was actually quite a bargain.

Developed by BMW Individual, you got a plethora of performance details throughout the package. Outside, M-Tech body pieces adorned the car front, sides and rear and blacked out trim replaced the chrome. So too were M-branded special Style 135 18″ wheels, with tires to match the width of bigger brother M3. Lower and stiffer suspension was met with more negative camber, special reinforcement and control arms. The engine was upgraded too, with unique cams and a revised engine map resulting in 10 more horsepower, but the ZHP was more than 10 hp quicker off the line thanks to a shorter final drive and a 6-speed manual borrowed from M. Performance wise, the ZHP split the difference between the 330i and M3 in acceleration and cornering, so it really was a performance package to live up to its name. Inside, too, many special details adorned the ZHP – from small items like lightly revised gauges with special needles to unique shifter, steering wheel, seat fabric and eggcrate dash trim. Just like the S-Line Titanium Package Audis, these more potent 330is have a cultish following who proudly claim they’re not only special, but one of the most special BMWs made:

2006 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S

There seems to be a very vocal group of people in the car world that really love green cars. I adore them as well, so much so if given the choice of choosing a color, I’d think I’d go with a dark green. For whatever reason, there just aren’t a ton of green cars out there running around. Probably because the millions of dollars car companies spend on market research says people don’t want green cars, and I do see their point. Its not that companies don’t produce green cars, but rather they don’t produce them on the same level as the silver, gray, black, and whites. So I have to ask, do people love green because its an aesthetically pleasing color on cars? Or rather because it is rare to see and people want things that aren’t so common? Like the little girl says on TV selling taco shells, “¿Por qué no los dos?

This 2006 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S for sale in California is a green lovers dream. Forest Green Metallic on the outside, Palm Green leather on the inside. Extra goodies include 19″ lobster claw wheels, heated sport seats, park assist, Bose audio, and more. Where do I sign?

2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S

Wood trim in a Porsche 911 has always been an interesting debate. On one side, this is a pure sports car, leave the wood for BMW and Mercedes-Benz if you want luxury. On the other, some will argue that this is also a GT car and having some wood on the dash, steering wheel, and where ever else they could put it is just fine. Clearly buyers want this, because billion dollar car companies don’t just blindly do things without tons of research and market analysis, no matter how much we want to believe they do. This 2006 911 C2S has some wood on the inside and not just the shift knob and steering. No, this 997.1 is optioned with the Makassar Package to finished off the Sea Blue interior just right in my eyes. Wait until you see it.
