It has been a little while since I’ve featured a W123 so today is as good a day as ever. Today we have a 1979 Mercedes-Benz 300D up for sale in Seattle, Washington. It sports the great color combo of Pastel Blue (with the matching hubcaps) and blue MB-Tex interior. I’m partial to all things W123 (I own one) and I love to see them when they’ve been cared for extensively. Luckily for everyone, this nice W123 looks to be so.

As we wade through this crazy time where every somewhat desirable vehicle is suddenly worth three times as what they were worth 5-7 years ago,…
Comments closed”Those old Mercedes diesels will run forever!” That’s what I constantly hear when someone who is a ”car person” sees or hears I drive an old Mercedes diesel. Usually I just smile and nod in agreement because they don’t want to hear about valve adjustments, multiple filter changes, purges, diesel fuel additives and everything else that goes into keeping an old Mercedes diesel running forever. ”Nope, you’re right, just pour whatever liquid you want into the tank, it’ll run. Sure.” That brings me to today’s car. An OM617 diesel that is half way to running forever with only a tick over 585,000 miles. Now since you’ve heard about these cars that are capable of doing a crazy amount of miles, let’s take a look at this 1980 300D in Scottsdale, Arizona.

2 CommentsNamed after the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Konrad Adenauer, the Mercedes-Benz 300d Adenauer wasn’t for everyone. These were for the rich politicians, celebrities and even the Pope was driven around in one — although his was the Landaulet. The $12,000 price tag in 1960 which equates to close to $100,000 today had a big part to do with that. These were a status symbol of exclusivity and wealth that gave off presence. Only to be replaced by the legendary 600, these cars still are a head turner in any situation. So let’s check out this 1960 for sale in Columbus, Ohio.

Another week, another diesel Mercedes-Benz. This one has a little more rarity thanks to fewer features than what we normally see. Manual transmission, manual windows, non-turbo diesel engine, cloth seat inserts but what you do get is European lights and bumpers finished over the wonderfully period-correct Thistle Green. So if you are looking for a bare-bones W123 diesel with a little bit of European flare, then this 300D north of Philadelphia might fit the bill.
