1992 Porsche 911 Turbo S2 – REVISIT

s-l1600

The rare 1992 Porsche 911 Turbo S2 we featured in early June remains up for sale and is still asking the same $150K price. Given its mileage and that the condition suggests it may need a little bit of work it looks like that asking price is proving to be too high, but given the general demand for rare 911 Turbos we may still see this one snapped up.

1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet

It’s been hot. But as we slip past the mid-point of August cooler temperatures are on the way and some of the best days for open-top motoring are on the horizon. So why not begin investigating those options? Cars like the 911, with their strong sporting pedigree, aren’t always the most likely choices for convertibles, but that open-top experience has been a part of the Porsche lineup since nearly the beginning. And why feel like you have to drive something boring just because you want the wind in your hair and sun on your face? The first 911 Cabriolet was released in 1983 and they’ve been a consistent presence in the lineup ever since. The one we see here also combined some new technology in the guise of Porsche’s all-wheel drive system. This certainly wouldn’t be your most sporting 911 available, but its 911 DNA will insure in makes for a captivating drive. Here we have a Black 1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet, located in California, with Grey leather interior and 71,610 miles on it.

2005 Porsche Cayenne for $5,900

C1

I constantly shop for SUVs to replace my winter beater Land Rover Discovery that could either die tomorrow or two years from now. But, probably it’ll be tomorrow. My search usually goes from the logical choice of a Toyota Land Cruiser to the ”Andrew, we’d like you to seek psychological help based off your 3 a.m. eBay Motors searches for Volkswagen Touaregs.” So once in awhile the Touareg’s upper-middle class cousin, the Porsche Cayenne, crosses my mind when I see a rerun of The Sopranos. Logically, I jump on eBay Motors to see where the market is at on them. I was surprised.

2000 Porsche 911 Millennium Edition

I write up a lot of 911s and it’s pretty rare that I come across a model or edition I’ve never seen before, but that’s exactly what happened with this one. This is a 2000 Porsche 911 Millennium Edition, located in Chicago, with 50,150 miles on it. Never let it be said that Porsche can’t find a reason to release a special edition. Like many other such editions this 911 distinguishes itself from other 996 models through a variety of options and cosmetic enhancements. Those options definitely skew to the luxury side of the Porsche spectrum rather than the performance side as the Millennium Edition had pretty much every available option for the 911. Each was based on the Carrera 4 Coupe and they are pretty rare with only 911 total built.

1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe – M491

Here’s another favorite of mine from the ’80s and this particular 911 is really captivating me more so than I would normally suspect it should. Part of the allure is the color, but that’s also why I wouldn’t expect it to look as good as it does. I mean, grey isn’t terribly exciting as exterior colors go, nonetheless it’s attracting my eye here. The rest, however, does make for an attractive model. The Turbo-look 911 served as a popular option for US buyers unable to get a 930 during the years in which that model was on hiatus. As the moniker suggests, the package provided the various attributes to modify the appearance most notably the wider rear of the Turbo. Significantly, the package also included the Turbo’s suspension and braking serving to provide not only a unique look relative to the narrow-bodied 911, but improved performance in certain areas. Generally speaking, the M491-equipped cars have been more desirable than other 911s and the Coupes especially garner a good bit of notice. Here we have just such a beast: a Turbo-look Meteor Grey Metallic 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, located in California, with 113,709 miles on it.
