Avant-garde: 1995 Audi S6 Avant Roundup

In the U.S., few Audi models have quite such a devoted following as the 1995 S6 Avant. Not many were imported, and those that were generally have been snapped up by enthusiasts and had miles piled on to them. Some have succumbed to accidents or been organ donors, leaving even fewer on the road 20 years later. However, we have 4 today available – amazingly all in different colors. Which would be the one you would choose? Let’s start with an Emerald Green Mica example:

10K Friday S-Fest II: 1992-1995 Audi S4/S6 Roundup

The Audi S4 and S6 are still one of the best performance bargains out there, but you often have to wade through a lot of examples to find some good ones. Today we have another S-Fest roundup to chose from, where you can balance price versus condition and choose the color you’d like. Which would be your ride? Ur-S Double Take: 1992 Audi S4 v. 1995 Audi S6

As Paul and our reader John both noted in last week’s 1991 Audi S4 post, the price of that appealing and clean example of was fairly high relative to what you could purchase a slightly higher miles but still clean model in the U.S. for, even not taking into account the cost of importing the car to the U.S. To underscore that point, today we’ll look at both an early and later version of the venerable 20V Turbo C4 chassis Audi – the enthusiast dubbed “Ur-S” cars. First off we’ll look at a 1992 S4, then a 1995 S6:

Heap of the Week: 1995 Audi S6 Avant

It’s been a mixed week at GCFSB for C4 Audis; yesterday I wrote up the best of the U.S. S4 which reminded us how incredible these cars can be; but more folks pine for a good example of the Avant. A few days earlier, I wrote up aslightly rough 1995.5 S6 Avant, which needed some trim work, a good cleaning and some center caps for the wheels but otherwise looked decent. In that post, I talked about how these Avants were used hard and most turn up in worn condition; today’s example is no exception. Looking a bit tired but – as they say with houses – with “good bones”, will this S6 Avant be a heap worth restoring?

1995.5 Audi S6 Avant

If you’re a big fan of the Audi S6 Avant, and you see a good one, buy it. These rare wagons were used and used well by their owners, and today few remain in top shape. Many more appear in the condition of today’s car; worn, a bit tired, but underneath the patina they are still one of the best sleeper performance packages out there. Unlike the last example, a clean and super rare Casablanca White example, today’s is shown in the much more common Emerald Green Metallic with black leather – apparently, the prototype of the Goodwood Green example I wrote up earlier this week:
