It’s the time of year where’s it’s fun to take to Europe and consider what might be available for import in just a few days. I found a few fun ones to consider here but would love to hear what you’re looking for. First off, this clean ’99 Audi A3 1.8 manual with only 66k miles for under 3k Euro!
1999 Audi A3 on Mobile.de
From the seller:
Now finally available, the successor was delivered at the end of November 2023. Price is negotiable. It has signs of wear commensurate with its age and the front bumper has been painted. The previous owner had probably taken a bit of damage to the front of the garage door. The car has new 17-inch all-weather tires and new, original aluminum rims. Radio with subwoofer. Electric windows, electric mirrors, ZV, automatic climate control, center armrest, He got new belts and a flushing of the cooling circuit as well as a new thermostat. Every now and then the lamp comes on, when reading the error, the tester shows that it is due to low voltage. Due to the infrequent use and few kilometers, it is reasonable to assume that the battery is simply too low in time. Due to the lamp, we are selling the car as a spare parts donor without any guarantee or warranty. Basically the car drives, has a 1 year MOT and everything is in order.
I’ve always liked the clean look of the A3, and this one looks like it could be a really fun commuter on the cheap. Not the manufacturer starting with “A” you were hoping for?
1999 Alpina B10 V8 on Mobile.de
From the seller:
Alpina B10 Tire timing chain guides Vanos new/refurbished V8 Leather interior automatic transmission Automatic climate control Multifunctional steering wheel Electric windows Electric mirror sunroof central locking system Aluminum rims Airbags
A great-looking alternative for needy M5 money – this dealer is only looking for ~$26k, so you could likely get this one here under 30. For an Alpina with only 63k miles, not too bad!
1999 Volkswagen Lupo on Mobile.de
From the seller:
I offer a VW Lupo, which is particularly suitable for beginner drivers. This is in extremely well-maintained condition! Data First registration: December 17, 1999 Mileage: 275000km TÜV: until March 2025 In addition, -timing belt -Water pump -Tires -Brakes -Exhaust renewed. An inspection was also carried out in May 2023 and a wheel alignment in August 2023. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Another oddball I’ve always liked – the Lupo! It got back to VW’s roots of a small, practical car for not much money. This one looks neat with the red interior, too. This one is about as cheap as a whole car comes these days. Not your speed? Don’t forget there were Golf Variants and 4Motion Boras available in Europe, too.
1999 Opel Tigra on Mobile.de
From the seller:

WE HAVE ABOUT 200 USED CARS OF ANY PRICE, MODEL AND BRAND AT PRICES VERY DISCOUNTED. WE ARE OPEN FROM MONDAY TO SUNDAY FROM 9/12 TO 2.30/6 PM CORSO ROMA 45 INTERNAL 1 MONCALIERI TO
These Spanish-built Opel coupes are pretty neat and almost completely unknown in the US. For under 4k this one with just 49k miles could be yours!
1999 Mercedes-Benz A140 on Mobile.de
From the seller:
Selling my A class Condition ok Engine and transmission 1A
Since the bulk of Mercedes-Benz models did come to the US, I decided to look at a W168 A-Class. This one looks sharp with the red interior, and like the other superminis above, it won’t break the bank – with just 86k miles, it could be yours and here for likely only just over $5k. Neat!
Aside from the Alpina, these may not be the most exciting cars produced in 1999, but if you want to stand apart from the crowd, any of them would do!

Lots of good choices available. Just limited by $$$ and the effort needed to import.
