I am going to return here to a long time favorite of mine: a Slate Grey Metallic 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Coupe with only 23,863 miles on it. Here the Slate Grey Metallic exterior, which is the part of this 964 I most strongly prefer, is contrasted with a Linen interior. I’m not sure I’ve come across a similar example. Most have had Burgundy interiors. If I’m honest, I prefer the Burgundy, but there is something about the brightness conveyed by this Linen interior and I can see how it would be appealing. And unlike many of the Linen interiors we see on either a Cabriolet or a Targa this Coupe should be a little easier to keep clean since it is more insulated from the elements. Both exterior and interior look in nice shape and I think this looks like a nice early 964.

It’s pretty rare for us to see an auction from this seller rather than simply a BIN price. I don’t know if we should take that to mean anything of significance with regard to this 964 or not. Granted, a standard Carrera 2, even with this low mileage, is a somewhat more basic car relative to many of the typical cars this dealer has on offer so perhaps an auction simply felt like the better way to go. Regardless, I appreciate it a bit more given that pricing, ultimately, should be far more realistic.
The ad does state that this 964 should be considered as more in driver condition rather than concours and while I think we can agree it isn’t pristine there still isn’t a lot to find fault with. Everything presents very well and more or less as it should. We don’t hear much about the presence of service or ownership history, though it is said to come with all of its original books. Who knows? Maybe the colors aren’t original. Maybe its condition won’t look as good upon closer inspection. Or maybe it is simply a car with few records and we just need to accept it how it is. It’s a very pretty 964 though and the more desirable rear drive rather than all-wheel drive. I do think it’s probably worth further inquiry and finding the answers to any questions. Perhaps you’ll be pleasantly surprised and there will be little mystery.

The car has had paint work. The mirrors are wrong, the cup 1 wheels were not available until 1992. I am sure they are looking for over the top monew for the car.
Beware of these guys.
