I’m going to move from yesterday’s Cassis Red Carrera, a 911 that I think we can all appreciate and which sits in a somewhat reasonable spot in the market for those currently looking for a classic 911, to this Forest Green Metallic 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S. With a price tag above $400K this 911 is one that I think most of us will be able to do little more than admire from a distance. It’s a heck of a car to admire though: 424 hp delivered through a 6-speed manual transmission to all four wheels. Yellow brake calipers, quad exhaust, carbon fiber peppered throughout the interior, and a redesigned rear wing. Your friends definitely would take notice.

As we expect with a car likely to have spent most of its life as part of a collection, the condition of this Turbo S is very good. The ad text doesn’t really tell us much, but what we see does not disappoint. My only criticism is that the bright interior lighting of this showroom actually is hampering our ability to appreciate this exterior color. I almost feel like I need to shield my eyes from the light. The paint definitely pops though, that much is clear.
I do have a question about the interior color. It’s stated to be Cashmere Beige, but this color looks much darker and richer a shade of brown than I’m familiar with when seeing Cashmere Beige. This color looks closer to peanut butter. (I’m not sure that’s an actual available color for the 993, but you get the idea.) That’s one of those details that probably isn’t terribly significant in itself though it may raise the specter of there being little in the way of documentation. Or perhaps the lighting is affecting the interior pictures as well. It looks in fine shape so no worries there and it works very well with the Forest Green exterior to provide a woodsy feel throughout the car. I’d just want to know the color is original and exactly what it is if it’s not Cashmere Beige.
Ultimately it’s the level of documentation that will be key here. The asking price is fairly consistent with what we’ve seen for other examples of the Turbo S. The color is fairly rare, though the mileage is a little higher than many others (even if quite low). For a direct comparison a Turbo S in these identical colors sold at Amelia Island in 2016 for $495K. The mileage was around 13K and it was said to come fully documented, but that gives us some idea of what to expect.
