2003 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S

I don’t mean to harp on the Porsche 996 Carrera 4S so much, but the entire package of what they offer, especially at their current prices, always seem to draw me back in. Whether it be the wide rear end, 18″ Turbo Twist wheels, or the heckblende rear reflector, these cars just seem to do it for me. For what they were working with, I think Porsche nailed this design and pulled just enough pieces from the Turbo to keep you interested, but not so much that it was almost as expensive as the Turbo and no one would bite on it. Now, some 15 years later, this are at the bottom of the price curve and ripe for the picking. Time to snag one?

This 2003 up for sale in San Francisco has just 63,000 miles and is even optioned with some goodies like the supple leather seats and carbon gear knob. It does look like it has an odd aftermarket navigation system fitted which could, and frankly should, be replaced by your phone, but that is about it for the downsides on this one. No word on the IMS bearing so maybe budget for that, but for this asking price, I think you really can.

Just $30,000, which is right on the money I believe. I actually think that is a good deal considering the 63,000 miles and it doesn’t seem to have any major flaws. My guess is that this one won’t last long, and judging by the number of watchers on it already, it probably won’t.

It’s already gone. I have an 03 C4S so always interested in where the market is going.

I want to like these, particularly at this price. I can even live with the “fried egg” headlights.

No, the thing that always kills it for me is the interior. It just looks and feels cheap. The screen pod, the plastic-y surfaces…nothing feels at all premium. I didn’t even like it in the ‘01 Boxster I had, but I accepted it because it was an entry level Porsche.
