It’s been a little while since I featured a 996TT so now seems as good a time as ever to see how the market stands for these performance bargains. The example featured here is an Arctic Silver 2005 Porsche 911 Turbo S, located in California, with 16,483 miles on it. 2005 was both the last year of the 996 and also the first year of the 997. Because the 997 Turbo would not be released immediately Porsche continued production of the 996 Turbo and for its final year of 996 production introduced the Turbo S. From a power standpoint the Turbo S essentially was the previously offered 996 Turbo plus the X50 power package. Add ceramic brakes and interior upgrades and you have the Turbo S. While Silver will never be my favorite color it has become pretty desirable among Porsche fans over the last decade and at the very least should allow you to cruise without attracting too much attention.

For sale is my 2005 911 Turbo S Coupe in outstanding condition. It is an ultra low mileage sunroof coupe with 16,483 miles. It has a manual transmission, which is getting hard to find in these cars. The car has full leather interior with Alcantara headliner. It is equipped with ceramic brakes, upgraded Bose sound system with subwoofer, navigation and Michelin Pilots with good tread depth remaining.
The car has had its 15,000 major service at the Porsche dealership and is truly in fantastic condition. Car has been adult owned, never smoked in, never raced, never in an accident, never been repainted. It’s a no stories 2005 Turbo S.
We’re probably many years away from when a 996 will see much interest on the collector market, but if one were interested in buying as a collector then a well-maintained Turbo S will probably show better value than an otherwise similar X50-equipped Turbo. Without that collector interest, however, you’re probably better off finding the best example of either type that suits your desires. The car here looks in excellent shape and has yet to see many miles, but obviously with any high strung car such as this a thorough PPI will be in order. The price here is about $15K higher than where I’ve seen some X50-equipped Turbos priced, but given the lower mileage, greater rarity of the S, and the fact that it’s younger, this probably isn’t too unreasonable. Even so, for your performance dollar it still packs a hell of a punch!

a very under appreciated 911…..
Silver in and out looks like a cheap fleet vehicle to me.
