It doesn’t take much for me to take notice of any of the Porsches with “GT” in the moniker. I’m a big fan of pretty much all of them and certainly enjoy coming across nice ones for sale. The GT3 RS sits at the top of the naturally-aspirated group, but as things tend to go with the top model prices can be very high. This becomes even more true as we move toward the end of the 997 line when Porsche began seeing just how much engine they could stuff into the back of the RS chassis.
If we choose to step back just a bit to the GT3 prices suddenly become much more reasonable. I’ve looked a lot at the 996 GT3 lately as those seem to come in at really nice values for all the performance you get. As prices for the 996TT have gradually risen even those long-time performance bargains now make us look twice at the GT3. Fortunately for those looking to keep their spending sensible, the early GT3 models from the 997 line also remain on the reasonable side. Prices are, of course, still higher than the 996, but you’re getting more car too. You’re also getting a better looking 911.
The one we see here, an Arctic Silver Metallic 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 with 45,500 miles on it, is particularly striking even in silver and looks to have been very well maintained. For the buyer looking for a GT3 that’s been babied its whole life and rarely driven hard I don’t think this is the car for you. But for those who don’t mind some hard driving so long as it’s given proper care this one should make for a nice option.

OVERVIEW
When Porsche continued the GT3 theme into the 997 chassis, they perfected a recipe long in the making. A GT3 is a special treat in the Porsche world, as it is an extremely honed platform. Presented in factory Arctic Silver Metallic over Black Leather, this 997 chassis GT3 is an exceptional driver’s car.
Unique to the GT3 is the engine. Popularly known as a “Mezger†engine, after it’s designer Hans Mezger, this engine shares the general architecture with the racing Porsche 962 engine. Dry-sumped, with water cooled heads, this engine is a special piece and the heart of the GT3. Coupled to a close ratio 6 speed manual transmission, the GT3 also enjoys larger brakes, lowered suspension, front and rear aero package and light weight wheels to distinguish it from a standard 911.
Most recent owner of this car was Ward Carter, the past president of the PNW Region PCA Chapter. Ward used the car extensively in PCA autocross events, and the car is currently set-up for that (suspension and alignment perfectly dialed in over the years). Sitting on nearly new tires, this GT3 handles among the best of any 997 GT3 we have sampled.
Fresh off an $8K+ engine out service (welded coolant lines, oil service, etc.) just 900 miles ago, this GT3 is mechanically ready for anything. Service records are present for all work since day one where the car was originally sold through Roger Jobs Porsche in Bellingham, WA.
The front end is protected with a clear bra, and overall the car presents well in person, with the classic color combination of silver over black.
Notable options on the original window sticker include:
Adaptive Sport Seats
Heated seats
Seatbelts in Guards Red
Bi-Xenon light package
Chrono Package
Self dimming mirrors

This GT3 makes for a nice comparison with the Speed Yellow GT3 with Clubsport options I featured a couple weeks ago. That one had some great additions and was priced pretty high for a 996 GT3 with its mileage. This one is similar mileage and less unique in its options – though the sport seats are a great add – so it comes in at the lower end of 997 pricing. Both look to be examples of GT3s used extensively and shown great care. This one is two owner rather than one owner, but it is said to come with a full service history beginning from its sale.
I think both of these GT3s are really interesting. This one looks in phenomenal condition. Ownership by a former PCA chapter president gives it a certain credence and the condition tends to bear that out. With a full service history and recent engine service it looks ready to deliver some excellent driving. And the price comes in under six figures. Love it!

My local P-car store had a 997.1 GT3 with 4X,xxx miles in inventory for at least 2 or 3 months this Spring.
The car was well serviced. Cosmetically speaking, it had some tiny imperfections, but a white GT3 is generally a desirable item.
The last time I saw it, the Ask was something like $88K after being marked down a few times. It probably sold for <$85.
Related, but unrelated current comps….
On RL, there are two high mileage GT3s which have languished unsold for months. The twist? The first is a 997.2 and the second is a 991.1…
997.2 GT3, 37K miles, $105K Ask, Unsold for 9 months. No apparent issues,

Then there's this one which popped up a couple of days ago…
997.1 GT3, 50K miles, $72K Ask, Heavily tracked, but well maintained.
