This 911 GT3 presents me with a do over. A little while ago I came across this Anthracite Brown GT3 and was quite impressed. As GT3s go it was a stunner, though not necessarily in the traditional ways in which these cars attract us. However, I had just written about a couple similar 911s and had a few others I wanted to post. So I sat on it for a little bit. It sold. Darn.
When I first saw this Mahogany Metallic 2015 Porsche 911 GT3 I thought it might actually be the same car. Perhaps this dealer had bought it and was now trying to flip it. Once I read what color it was I knew it was a different car, but it remains no less impressive than that Anthracite Brown example. They are fairly different colors: Mahogany is a much deeper shade of brown than Anthracite, but each still represents a departure from the norm for these models. That makes them quite rare and, for some, also quite desirable.

Because all of these pictures are taken indoors it’s really hard to get a good sense of the color on this GT3. I tried to pick out some pictures that show it, but you really need sunlight to show it off. Brown, of course, isn’t for everyone on a car, but they can be quite attractive when looking their best and you just don’t see them often. A few marques have begun to bring these colors back, but they remain rare. On the GT3 a color like this is especially rare. Track cars typically are pretty bright. Whether it will ever see the track or not, a car like the GT3 with its track-focused design tends to be ordered in similarly bright colors. It’s the nature of the beast. In a color like Mahogany the GT3 almost becomes a sleeper – at least as much of a sleeper as a 911 with a wing and bright yellow brake calipers can be. For the owner looking to use his GT3 around town it could make for a nice subdued option.
Outside of that color, this seems like a fairly standard GT3. Other than the PCCB the options aren’t terribly special, though I’m sure they provide a nice touch of elegance to the GT3’s sporty interior. That works well with this exterior color. This one lacks the bucket seats that the Anthracite Brown GT3 had and it has a little over twice the mileage. At just over 8K miles this isn’t exactly high mileage, but this GT3 definitely hasn’t been confined to the garage. Given its color and options I think that makes sense. With these factors in mind the asking price is a little lower than the Anthracite Brown GT3. That price probably could dip just a little farther down, but overall it doesn’t seem unreasonable for one of the rarer GT3 colors. If you want one most will have never seen, this seems like a nice chance.
